So I have been getting my wife more and more into shooting and she has recently taken to a pink (I have tried to explain why it is wrong, but she wont listen) SIG Mosquito. We were at a store the other day and she decided she had to have one. Now I prefer my Buckmark to any other 22 but she loved the feel and I have been trying to get her to try an autoloader so I said wth.

I didn't bother to do much research because, well........ its a SIG, and they are all great right? Pffft, well all I can say about this gun is WHAT PILE OF STEAMING DOG ****E! I couldn't get through a single mag without some sort of failure (all types were represented). I tried several types of ammo including the CCI Mini-Mags that SIG recommended with no positive results. I field stripped it and there was no dirt and it had lube in all the right places from the factory.

So I call the shop that sold it to me and they tell me it came with another spring that is lighter. GREAT, maybe that will fix it. So I take the pistol apart only to find it already had the lighter spring. Well, WTH do I do now? The only hope I have for this gun is maybe whoever installed the spring put it on the wrong way (there is a tapered end) and putting it on correctly will fix it. Tomorrow I will test it out again.

Now if this doesn't work, I will likely bring this gun back and trade it for something else. This brings me to the purpose of the thread.

My wife LOVES the gun other than the small, insignificant detail that it cant make it through 10 frigging rounds without having some sort of failure. She wants me to fix it and I am running out of ideas that don't involve a gunsmith. She wants a pink pistol...... yes, it HAS to be pink. So, I am looking for other options in something smaller than 9mm with a pink finish.

I have seen the pink grip on the S&W M&P and that's interesting, but I'm looking for other options. She didn't like the pink Taurus Millennium. So that was a really long way for me to ask for suggestions on pink pistols. Thanks in advance for any help.

Try the heavier spring.

Me Pesonally, I am a woman, and would feel like a Idiot walking into the range with a Pink gun, does she just want one for looks to match her Purse..?? I even think that an on coming assailant would laugh.."Sorry just trying to keep it real.. DAWG" Randy from America Idol.. !! LOL

Well, she has a normal (SS) revolver for self defense.

This was just a plinking and fun gun. I think its silly, but then again there many, many things that I have that she thinks are silly. She likes the gun and actually asks me to go out shooting, so I cant complain.

Today I reinstalled the spring correctly and it had only a few failures. If I load the mag with 10 rounds it jammed on the 1st or 2nd round every time. If I load 9 rounds, fires just fine.

Going to run a few hundred more rounds through it and see if things improve. If not I think I may look into refinishing a slide or something.

Thanks for the suggestions.

It wont! Its the biggest POS the Sig has ever made! I had 2 before I traded the last one for a Walther. Now I have 2 of them and one of them is Pink! My duaghter's.

If you want pink from the factory, grab the Walther. If you're willing to put in a little time refinishing the thing yourself, grab a Buckmark and color it pink.

There is a Walther P22 at my local indoor range that get's absolutely abused and just keeps going and going and going. My daughter loves it, we rent it most of the time we're there together and she wants me to buy her a new pink one. The Walther has never let us down except when trying to use subsonic ammo, doesn't seem like it has enough snot to cycle properly. But works fine with standard velocity and is awesome with high velocity ammo.
Forget the Sig, buy the Walther P22.

I would recommend anything other than a P22, even if free and gold plated.

Also, I have no idea what Sig's Customer Service is like but it never hurts to call the manufacture and and ask what can be done about the problems.

I bought one of these Mosquitos for myself after hearing all the horror stories. First right after I bought it i cleaned it completely. After that I polished the chamber with a very light lapping compound applied to a few patches on a sloted patch holder. I put the patch holder on a cordless drill and marked the depth of the chamber on the patches to not touch the rifleing. NOTE: If you decide to do this make sure you use a plastic patch holder and keep it centered and square in the chamber. I just lightly polished it do not overdo it. after that I cleaned it again and oiled the hell out of it (they like to run wet). remember to apply oil in the oiling hole on the slide. After this fun bench time I took it out to shoot. I had 1 FTF out of 200 rounds of CCI mini-mag. Remember all .22lr pistols have a break in period!! Also make sure to clean it every 100 rounds (wipe it down, reoil all oil points, Oil in the hole on the slide, and I boresnake it). This only takes about 5 min and will save lots of frustration at the range. I know this sounds like a long process you should not have to do but I did and 500+ rounds later....No Failures at all. Most of the probs in this gun are shotty bored chambers and mag related issues. I always use the metal mags only. Lastley make sure you clean the mags off with CLP spray them down good and wipe them off thoroughly (field strip if you need to).
The new mags are always shipped with a light but thick oil to prevent rusting. Hope this helps cause I love mine!

Oh also have a P22 for my wife that I put through the same process.........Works perfectly! Just always spend the money and get Mini-Mags or Blazers for these picky pistolas.

The is nothing wrong with pink if it gets them to the range. My GF gets a tremendous amount of attention from her pink camo Beretta 3901 and she lovers every minute of it. A surprising number of guys want to have their pic taken shooting it.

Nothing wrong with pink. My 6yo daughter has a pink P22, my 10yo daughter has a pink 870 in 20ga. Their mom is a Deputy, and carries an M&P9 with the pink backstrap on her Sam Browne. They like the color, and I would bet my girls outshoot a lot of you guys.

I think that you should get that Buckmark of yours painted pink. If that's all it takes to make your wife happy, get used to shooting a pink Buckmark.

good guns are easier to come by than good wives
if she likes pink, buy pink
range plinkers aside, if she wants a pink & purple 44 mag, buy pink & purple

if the rapist/murderer pauses to laugh at it, that should yield an excellent "target of opportunity"
nothing else cures a case of bad humor quite like a COM hit with a 44 mag
(gives all new meaning to the phrase "laugh so hard it hurts")

Of course you're going to have problems dude. It's freakin PINK. It's revolting against it's very existence. :what:

I have a friend that has one too same issues.

Get a Ruger Mark... I have had one for about 8 years or so now never any issues.
