I'm not trying to beat a dead horse to death, and I've read all the ups and downs of this little guy...but I was curious if anyone has anything to say about the newest ones (last 6 months or so) that have come out. I have a chance to get a p365 (+) beautiful holster for a solid price, but the interweb has scared me with negative information overload.

Any experience with primer drag/trigger spring issues with new ones?

As a side note, the other jewel of my eye is a good ol' fashion Kahr CM9. Different in many ways from the Sig, I know, but just putting it out there (I do love me a brand new Kahr) :)

No trigger time with the P365; handled it in the LGS and felt it was just a little too small for me (and this coming from a guy who has small hands)! So for now I have decided to sit this one out til everything is good to go with them (I hope). In the meantime I have my Kahr CM9 to keep me company in the CCW role and I'm perfectly content with that.

I've experienced primer drag with almost every pistol I've ever owned. The problems are relatively rare, and there's no way to know whether you're going to get a good one or a bad one, but that's the same as any other gun. The most current ones have the updated striker assembly, which is the most recent hardware change, but that was from quite some time ago. Odds are that you are fine, unless someone is trying to dump a lemon on you and is being dishonest about it.

Primer drag obvious on these cases. It doesn't strike me as severe, and the pistol functions perfectly. My 365 is a December 2018 model.

Honestly, if this issue is stopping anyone from buying one of these gems, I don't know what to say ... This pistol is the first new product that I've gotten excited about in years; it's just that good. From ergonomics to splendid trigger to outstanding sights to capacity for its size ... it's a winner in all categories on which I'd judge a handgun.

If you want a bigger sample size from more satisfied owners of the P-365, I'd suggest going to the SIG Forum.

Just a data point from the late Stephen A. Camp, this in regards to the SIG P220

https://hipowersandhandguns.com/Corbon .45 ACP.htm

The telltale firing pin "wipe" is present on the primer fired in the SIG-Sauer. This is typical and to be expected. The SIG-Sauer pistols purposely have a bit slower firing pin retraction to help thwart debris from entering the firing pin channel.

Mine was born in Dec 2018 also. No issues what-so-ever.
I don't have thousands of rounds thru it yet but so far it's been great.
I bought it for the same reasons Old Dog mentioned.
It is a winner, IMO.
I haven't purchased a new pistol in probably 10 years until the Sig.
Nothing excited me enough to spend for new when there are plenty of used "whatever" out there.
With the Sig P365, I waited for them to work the kinks out.
I believe they did.

Mine was manufactured in June, 2018. I replaced the firing pin as a precaution, as mine had the old style that was known to break and also replaced the trigger bar spring, again as a precaution. The trigger bar spring that was in it looked fine, but it was so inexpensive it was worth changing. I put 2000 rounds through it with 1 failure to go into battery. I then started experiencing light primer strikes which were corrected by changing the recoil spring. Mine didn't last the expected 2500 rounds, but I'll change it every 1500 rounds. Not an issue for me now that I'm aware of it. I shoot it well, and if I had to do it over again I'd buy it in a second. It's exactly what I was looking for in a CC gun.

I will have one later this week. I don't need it or have any opinion of it positive or negative. Since there are so many extremely good and bad reviews I decided to get one and keep round counts and notes on it's performance.
My first observation, without ever firing one, is that it is rivaling Glock for the amount of passion it stirs.

A group of us shot the gun at our club. But it was not a big deal. No better or worse than a lot of guns in the same class. We shared a few comments at the end, pro's and con's, but that was about it. The extra round count was really not even brought up but a few times and not a hot selling point to us. It is a nice, lovely gun, well built gun. But what is more interesting is how the internet is making this one gun to be so "Controversial". This controversy, attention, bashing and on and on could require a Study in itself.
What is causing this? Jealousy? Anger? Is it because Sig won a military contract that others felt cheated that their favorite gun did not win? Just old rivalries between Glock, Sig, Beretta owners? Is it the big hype from advertising? People expecting some miracle? This controversy just seems to never have a end. How long as it been now since the gun came out?
The internet is a strange place.

It would seem that if you were really interested in the gun, then just go to a range and rent one. If you like it, buy it, if not try something else. If you just keep asking questions on the internet, you just end up in the same vicious circle that goes no where.

Is there any controversy if you remove any discussion of the "issues" it has had?
If you talk just about the gun and nothing else, what controversy would their be?

Controversy ... On the Internet ? Where is this ? :what:

My blue label P365 has a January born on date. It has been good to go so far. It replaced a Kahr PM9 as my EDC. With the Kahr I carried 6+1 with an extra 7 in my jeans watch pocket and another 7 in a belt pouch for a total of 21 rounds. With the Sig it is 10+1 plus 12 plus 12 in the same locations for a total of 35.

I have both the SIG and Kahr; they are the same size but the Kahr is 6+1 in lieu of 10+1 or even better, 12+1. I love the SIG, especially with the 12 rounder; it really fits my hand really well.

Great information, especially that old article put up by JTQ! Never would have associated "primer drag" with "intentional design," but the proof's right there.

It's great to hear all the round counts and parts replaced along the way. I'm not any closer to deciding...but the hands-on experiences are very welcomed.

Also I agree with Jeb Stuart about the crazy internet. I was getting a little bogged down, and needed to toss the question over to THR. It seems more personable than binge-watching youtube video after youtube video.

Keep the testimonials coming!

I think the main thing is that no one gun is a perfect fit. You like the Kahr, I like the Nano, and some like the Glock or Shield etc. So many nice guns to choose from. The Sig was just too small for my hand. It shot nice. I really thought it shot very similar to my LC9S but not quite as much muzzle flip. One thing that will be important for any shooter is to decide what Trigger they prefer and not just the gun. You like the Kahr and I like the DAO Nano. Some like the light striker fired trigger like the Ruger LC9S. I decided I do not want a light trigger any longer. It has been a while since I shot the Sig, but I seemed to remember it had a similar trigger to the Ruger. And comparing the Sig to the Ruger is not a disparagement. The LC9S is and has been a great gun.
Even though I do not want a striker fired trigger, For some reason I really want to fire the new Mossberg. I went to the LGS the other day, and they had one, but have not put it up on the rental shelve yet. That gun has my interest. But I doubt I would buy one. Just too happy with what I have.

By the way, here is a link you can compare different firearms in the same class.

I own a LC9s, Nano, and Sig 365. Honestly since I picked up the sig 2 months ago the nano sits in the safe and the girlfriend took the LC9s as hers. It’s my edc and I haven’t found issue with it yet.

SIG is 10+1 or 12+1; Ruger is 7+1

I have had one since they came out and bought a second just because...
5000+rounds fired no spring changes and the gun functions perfectly. I bought a second RSA just to have on hand.
Sig and Glock have their share of haters and lovers but this little gun is something special and carried daily.

They're probably just fine, but there's been lots of noise about them and there are several other good alternative pistols in that size class without the same kind of negative commentary. I haven't bought one and don't intend to, if that tells you anything about my conclusion.

What alternative has the ability to carry 12+1 in that size ? I don't know of any. There's as much negative about Ruger, S&W, Glock and all of the others; it seems only the bad news comes out on the internet gun forums.

And just about all of the "noise about them" comes from those who haven't purchased one. And no, there are not several good alternative pistols "in that size class" that even come close to the superb ergonomics, outstanding factory night sights, great trigger and of course, capacity. Ruger? No night sights, and pitiful sight picture anyway. Ergos? Yeah, right … Trigger? Seriously? Capacity? Oh … yeah, right … Next …

I would have no trouble relying on one for defensive use after testing it with 100 to 200 rounds of different JHPs.
