Interesting, a couple of hours ago the news was reporting that Bush was at the Ranch for Thanksgiving.

The president is going to a war zone to visit and wish a happy thanksgiving to the troops that HE sent there. I am quite proud of him for doing that. I don't mind picking up the tab at all.

She and her handlers when to some trouble to get her to spend thanksgiving with the troops in A'stan and Iraq.
I'll really be interesting to see the Iraqi reaction to Bush's visit. I hope they got some pictures of Bush at some landmarks. Maybe the 21st century equivelent of Patton and the Rhine River.

to keep er' on topic, how will he tour iraq? all the badguys will be gunning for him. what will the good guys do to keep him safe? special vest? what kind of guns do his secret service pack on trips like that??

Hey, he flew into an airport where missiles are a constant danger, and had his Thanksgiving meal with several hundred soldiers, many of whom (I presume) were armed. Gun-related!

What was the point of the trip, exactly?
Give the troops a hug, take some pictures for the next election campaign, and send the taxpayers the bill.

Lone Gunman -- you don't seem to understand some elements of what I (won't claim to presume for you) believe leadership means. I EXPECT them to be with the troops, drive moral, do the unexpected and generally slap backs. Would you prefer he spend a holiday safe and snug in a palace, up to his knees in champagne and caviar while the dogfaces that HE sent in harms way rot in some cesspool?

I certainly don't agree with all his policies, but I'd have to pat him on the back for this one (assuming I could ever get that close).
