The first gun you ever shot

Single shot .410. Squirrel hunting with Dad. He was doing all the shooting until he got tired of my pestering. Initially I was just supposed to see how it was done. Ha. Fat chance Daddy-O. I was about 6-7 years old. I still have the gun and I plan on showing my little one how to slay squirrels in about 4 years. I'm looking forward to it very much. Can't wait.

If I recall correctly, it was an AR-15 Carbine length Bushmaster. I was 9 or 10 and it was my Dad's rifle. He doesn't have it anymore, and I'm going to be 22 this year with 7 firearms of my own, 5 rifles, including my Marlin Model 80 that Dad gave me as my first rifle, one shotgun, and one pistol

Anschutz/Savage Model 12 with Williams peep sights at Boy Scout Camp. The rifle was purchased from the CMP for a whopping 20$ a pop and for a single shot .22LR, I STILL want one. I need to talk to the shooting sports director as they have replaced these with newer rifles. Of course, the hundreds of thousands of rounds shot through one wouldn't make me cringe at all, just want it that much more!

My first experience with guns what at a range where my friend and I shot a Glock 19 and a Springfield 1911. I forget which one was first up, I think it was the Glock.

The first I ever shot was a bolt action .22 ... <snip>...

Anyway, as a very young lad about 5 or 6 years of age ...
Same here ... I have the rifle downstairs in one of my gunsafes.

It was my Dad who bought the rifle and started my firearms education on one of our summer trips to my maternal grandparents' farm ... the same farm where I have lived for the past 20+ years.

Marlin, bolt action 22mag. My grandpa's gun. My dad has it now. I'm hoping to end up with it some day. Later, rather than sooner is okay with me though!

For the life of me I cannot remember exactly which was first. However if I had to take a guess:

Single shot .410, don't recall the model. A friend of the family had a farmette and he would set up a little shooting gallery for me. I felt like Gallagher with a cooler delivery system.

S&W .357 w/ .38's, it was at an outdoor sheriffs range. My friends stepfather was a deputy. He took us through the qualification course and I actually qualified my first time.

I think my first one was an unknown brand 22lr that belonged to my cousin. My daughters first shot was with her very own Rossi 22lr/410 combo when she was 9. Now she has that, a Savage 22lr Cub, and a Ruger 10/22. Two weeks ago she fired her first pistol shots from my Sig Trailside. She is 10 now.

A remington 550-1 .22 when I was 7 or 8. It was my grandfathers and I still have most of it. Followed by an old harrison and richardson single shot 12 ga a year or 2 later. Alot of rats fell to the 22 and a whole lot more pigeons and pheasants fell to the 12 ga. I may have to use it for doves this year at least once just for old times sake.

S&W Model 66 .357 Magnum, a policeman friend took me shooting.

Dan Wesson .357 Magnum was the first gun I ever bought, not long after that first shooting session.

My Dad's WWII issued Okinawa vet 1911, when I was about 12. Went rock cod fishing off So Cal, 'bout 14 miles out. Popped some 7 foot blue sharks behind the ears as they'd come in to rip the cods off our hooks. I distinctly recall that gun being ten times louder & recoilier than the last one I shot last May. Unfortunately about three years after that fishing trip, my Dad was cleaning that gun inside our boat, and instead of 'checking' the chamber with it pointed down, he did parralel to the water. Big boom, thru one bulkhead, thru the pockets of his five dress shirts, out the other side, thru my bunk and then finally lodging in the deck-to-hull joint. He was shook up enough over that n/d that he traded it three days later for a case of Olympia and two surf fishing rigs.

Dammit......:D

Golly, I just don't remember. The first gun i every "owned" was a daisy pump bb gun. 7yrs old. I also shot a 22 rifle close to that time, but I don't know if it was before or after the bb gun, seems like I may have been 6yrs old but I couldn't say for sure. I am sure I shot before that, but I really don't remember it. after that it would have been a 7mm08 at 9yrs old

My Dads model 72A Winchester 22lr, back in the early 60s.

Its in my safe right now, and still shot regularly ... by me.

About 7 years old---a Red Ryder BB gun owned by my brother. Usually the gun was not shot by me but at me. He shot me too many times & when he drew blood--grandma
wrapped good old Red around the maple tree. I did miss that gun--it was a long time before we were allowed to get another.

Model 52B Winchester, 1948, I was 5 yrs old, rifle belonged to my brother, I own it now, totally orginal and complete except I'm missing the 5 shot mag. Have the hand stop, single shot adapter, 10 rd mag, redfield sights, 15X Lyman targetspot scope, sling, wish I also had the cardboard box.
