AcenJay, the demotivator is incorrect, federal law prohibits the import of full automatic weapons for civilian sale.

I wouldn't say it's completely incorrect, that's exactly their attitude towards civilians. Some H&K rifles and 416 uppers did make it into the hands of some civilians, but only briefly. They could easily make semi-auto versions of their rifles for civilians and make them readily available, but they choose not to. Why? Because we suck, and they hate us. :neener:

I decided to get one at the gunshow in Jackson this last weekend.

I paid $460 for a GSG P5 new in the case with the factory 10 round mag and two 22 round pro mags.

I thought it was a great deal as I didn't see any others with an asking price under $550 and some were over $600.

I gotta weigh in and say that in general I agree that a company should defend its patent and design. However, they should do it smartly. In the long run, this move to stop the gsg mp5 is a bad one because 1) the MP5 and the .22 rifle are not competing for market share and 2) a clone, even if HK isn't making any direct money, gets people familiar with their product and craving it.

I own a PTR91 and like it. I would love to have a real affordable HK someday. But I DO see the PTR91 as an infringement if it was/is built without HK's permission.

Oh well...

Thats great news...Glad GSG and ATI have found a way to maitain their buisness.:D

HK is still like a new pair of Danner boots that have walked thew a seven day old carcus that has been sitting in the jungle...Even after you clean 'em,they may look nice and they are built well but they still SMELL rotten.:rolleyes:My current opinion...Glutten for punishment that I am,I hold out hope they will comeback around to being customer freindly. Not that I am going to hold my breath or anything.:p

I have to agree with others, I am starting to be put off by HK. For a long time I was a huge fan of HK. I shot an MP5 at the local range about a month ago, and was very impressed. Since that day I have been looking into getting one. I can't afford the real thing, so I was looking at getting a good knock off. I have seen a lot of posts on Coharie arms CA89 and am definitely interested. I have looked online at their site but no way to order. Does anyone know how to order one? I've tried emailing them, but no response. Are they a quality firearm?

Maybe now I should just pick up a GSG. .22 is cheap to shoot, and I have seen many for sale in the 400-500 range. Not a bad cost for a new production firearm.

Any advice would be appreciated.

From what I hear they vary from alright to horrible...no personal experience, but I would stay away from them. Most of the companies that produced them also have a horrible reputation for CS, so you are SOL if you ever need service and/or parts. A while back I considered purchasing a pistol cartridge carbine, and pretty much decided that the IMI Uzi was the way to go...that said, I decided to stick with rifle cartridges and did not end up buying.

:)
