1. What kind of weapons do you take on vacation?

2. How much ammunition do you take?

I usually drag along my daily carry items, a SOG Flash 2, a small can of FOX pepper spray, and a Glock 19 with three or four mags (an increase of 2-3 mags for vacation.)

But, because the world is changing, I was also thinking about taking the Uzi along this year, neatly disguised in a Wilson tennis racket case.

Is the Uzi overkill? (no pun intended) Or, should I maybe just take along a few more mags for the Glock?

What do you do?

And what's your opinion of my vacation load out? Less, more? Take the AR instead? :D

Just got back from a road trip. Carried a S&W Model 1006 in 10 mm, four magazines with Double Tap Gold Dots, Surefire light, and a Sig P239 in 9 mm as a back-up gun (with four magazines). Generally carry that basic load or something very near it. Sometimes the back-up is just another 10 mm.

I would think a back-up sidearm more useful than an Uzi or long gun, but that's my opinion only, YMMV.

A civvie Uzi lookalike and a Glock are ballistically identical, and the Glock is more portable. If your Uzi is a carbine, it may be easier to shoot at 50-100 yards, though. If you decide you'd feel beter with a long gun along, the AR would make a lot more sense, IMHO.

Me, I usually carry my CCW gun (NC CCW is recognized in most states I visit), though I've occasionally taken a long gun along. I suppose it would depend on where I was going, how long I was going to be there, and if there were any good shooting ranges in the area. :)

benEzra, I'm headed to Ocean Isle in June. (Nice to see a fellow North Carolinian.) :)

If you're down East, can you recommend any good places to shoot?

I'm off to Vegas for business next week. i don't trust baggage handlers and my CCW in KS isn't reciprocated in Nevada, so I'm packing my King James Bible.

I trust that everything is up to Him anyhow. I'm hoping to meet Him someday anyway, next week would be a little sooner than I planned, but the decision is ultimately His.

i just take my p-11 with 13 rds, and a p-3at with 7 rds.
but if i am going somewhere i can't carry, i take along a hungry pitbul with aids

Multiple guns of the same model would be reasonable (i.e. two G17s and a G26), plus extra mags and ammo. You can never tell what might break and you'd be a long way from the spare parts and your rifles.

I allways take a "big gun", eather a full sized 1911 or a 4"XD-40, 3 mags (full), 50 extra rounds & a P3AT, 3 mags & 50 extra rounds. I normally just carry one or the other, conditions change as does dress, this way I can carry ether way. I have also been known to leave my "truck gun" behind the seat, a 94 Win. in 30/30 with 50 rounds.

When I go on vacation it is usually on the road pulling a travel trailer. I wont go anywhere via aircraft.

I bring along my Springfield 1911 and 6 mags. Loaded 230gr hydroshoks.

I also bring my AR15 carbine and about 10 mags, mostly 30 rounders.

See "The hills have eyes.":neener:

I normally take a .38 with 2 speed strips but I'm thinking of throwing the Keltec SU-16 or the sub2000 in the car for out next driving trip. The way things are these days you never know when you'll need extra firepower.

WOW, I must pack heavy then, At a minimum I pack my CCW w/ 5 mags, my HD Winchester 1300 w/ a 50rd shell belt, my wifes fav pistol her baby eagle, not to mention my truck gun that is always there, a .357 revolver. I always want to take more like a AR15 or an Ak.

DO I have a problem?
Am I over prepared or just crazy?

I am always afraid of leaving a gun in the truck at the water park, or whatever amusment park we are at that day, and I hate leaving them in the hotel room. I always carry my CCW but I cant carry my shotty around my shoulder at mickey mouse land. Whatever I decide for that day it doesn't matter I constantly worry about them.

Will be spending Memorial Day weekend this year just like I have the past several, at a secluded cabin in the hills of north AR. We (me, wife, kids, & my in-laws) always do some shooting while there, so there's always a pretty good assortment of guns. What better way to memorialize those who died for our freedoms than by participating in the most important one?;)
Even when we go there w/o planning on shooting, I still carry my full-size Kimber constantly. And the SKS is always handy. And snake loads for the .45. Can't forget the snake loads!
For a typical drive & stay in a hotel type of vacation, I tote my daily CCW, a Kahr P40 w/spare mag, Surefire, and probably the Mossy 500 in the trunk.

JACK 19....

1. Where are you going?

2. Mode of travel? (Airplane, car, truck, train, bus, ship, hitchhiking??)

3. With family or alone?

4. How long are you staying?

5. Type of accomodations?

Seems to me it might be easier to advise if we knew the answer to those questions. ;)

L.W.

I went on a road trip to pick up a free boat. Drove through OK, TX, NM, and stayed in AZ. All I carried was my Taurus Tracker .357, and 20 rounds of Federal JHPs. The only state I had my revolver unloaded in was OK. Carried concealed through TX (peaceable journey), and on the dash through NM and AZ. Open carried while in AZ.

What kind of weapons do you take on vacation?

Great question. I live in Gainesville FL while I'm at UF (I just got by Masters in Business on May 3rd and now I'm going on for Phd). My hometown is a 2hr ride away. In addition to my concealed carry options (first 3 handguns listed), when I go back I always take I nice little collection to take to the range.

Handguns: Kahr PM40, Sig P245 and Para Tac-4 .45 acp and 3" S&W 629 .44 magnum, 4" S&W 500, , HK USP .45acp, and Kimber Stainless Target II 10mm

Rifles: Hk91, FN FAL, an AR15 and a .308 bolt action rifle.

Glock 27.... which I will be taking in a couple days ironically when I go visit Gainesville.

Same vacation gun I believe Massad Ayoob carries.

I'm going on vacation later this year and I will be taking my AR-15 that I am building, my Hk USP 45 Tactical, and my CCW weapon (currently a Walther P99c AS).

If I get the chance I will be bringing a second AR and a second 45.

Ammo wise I will be taking about 2,000 rounds of 45 ammo, and 1,000 to 1,500 rounds of 223 ammo.

I will of course be taking all the usual stuff that I carry with me like my flashlight, leatherman, tools and such. :neener:
