Welcome Back, Mr. Nightcrawler

Sweet! The final version is the best IMHO.
I'd never considered the number of revisions that might be needed to create successful cover art, but the need to satisfy the authors, editor & marketing department is obvious with hindsight.
I'll purchase a signed copy when available, but I'll happily fork out for the E-Arc if that saves me a couple of months - I bought the E-Arc for MHI because I couldn't wait a week for you to ship my copy. :)

Wow.

I just finished the thread.

You guys are awesome.

I will soon be buying any and all Dead Six and MHI that I can get my hands on.

Thank you so much for this gripping, heart-pounding tale.

I've been reading this over the last four days. Wow! I've never wanted to keep reading a book before, but I seriously was addicted to this story. I will most certainly be picking up a copy of Dead Six as soon as it comes out.

Thank you. If I could get every member of THR to preorder a copy or buy it the week it comes out Dead Six would easily make the New York Times bestseller list. :)

Show some solidarity my gun brothers! :D

Well then Correia, issue an order to charge, and see what happens!

(That is charge as in a frontal assault, not charging credit. Thought that would work as well, come to think of it.)

In otherwords, post it to this thread, and people who are subscribed will get the word pretty darn quick.

WOW!
:what::what::what:
I started reading this thread about a week ago, and every moment of time I had was devoted to reading it! It is amazing! I look forward to being able to buy it, and to reading the sequels. The cover art is awesome, i wish i could get some of them as patches!

Around six months ago, I started writing a story similar in nature to this (on a much smaller scale in length and time spent on it) for my friends, and haven't gotten too far with it, (it's probably 1/4 of the length of "Dead Six") but it reminded me of my story, so reading this has inspired me to start it up again :)... who knows where it will go! (though probably not far, as i'm only 15 and I don't see an end to it in sight :() I look forward to being able to read MHI as well, and love this story! BTW, sorry for "bragging" about my own story, don't mean for it to sound that way!

also, while reading, I couldn't help but see Nightcrawler as Arliss Howard (not now, but him in Full Metal Jacket (He played "Cowboy") because of the glasses and overall demeanor) sorry if that seems odd :uhoh:!

also, don't know if I missed it, but what is a magic corn booth????

I'll post when the preorders go up. Getting one signed by both of us at first is going to be about impossible, because Nightcrawler is actually going to be in Afghanistan when the book releases. Though a book signing at Bagram would be totally awesome. That would have to be a first, and should at least get a mention in the Air Force Times. :p

Country Boy, don' t worry about finishing your book. Just keep on writing. You'll get better and better at it. I'm having a lot of sucess now, but that is after years of writing stuff that just plain wasn't that good. There's no wasted writing though. Much of this thread was populated with characters that I'd created for the very first book I had ever tried to write and didn't finish. Eventually you'll get better and better and the next thing you know you're selling lots of books. :)

I just found this thread and it is GREAT!

Is this Dead Six book the story in this thread published?

Nevermind, just went back and read a few other posts, I can't wait for the release!!

Correia: Is there any reason we should pre-order it, or if I wait to bundle it with a bunch of other stuff do you see the end result?

(I will pre-order if it benefits you, otherwise I'll put it in my pile of regularly accumulating "stuff from amazon" order)

xc, either works for me. Preorders are the best for the bestseller lists because then they count toward opening week. I usually steer everybody to one particular bookstore, then I go there before the release and sign them all, but I don't know if I'm going to do that this time, because there are two authors and Mike is going to be deployed during the release.

Sounds good, there are some other things I have in line waiting for an order, but those will probably wait until *after* the potential .gov shutdown, as if that lasts more than a couple days (if at all) we may not get a paycheck on the very next payday. (They still make us come in to work, but that is why the .mil is so awesome, they can tell us what to do and where to go, unlike the civilian. Try making someone from the state department go somewhere they don't want to go!)

(Gotta plan ahead, you know)

Correia and Nightcrawler,

Great reading from both of you. I must say I'm excited to find a new author(s) to read -- there are only so many I enjoy, and I've certainly enjoyed reading your story in this thread.

Looking forward to getting "Dead Six", and hopefully more to follow (please don't make us wait too long!).

So, funny story. My University's library was having a book sale and I happened to pick up Correia's "MHI" along with half a dozen other books for a dollar (totally worth it). However, being the busy college student that I am, I didn't actually get around to reading any of them, and they just sort of sat in a pile on my table for a couple months until my roommate asked if he could borrow one.
He comes back a couple days later telling me that the book is awesome and that I have to read it (I took it with a grain of salt of course), so later that week I picked it up and started reading. I slept through my first class the next day (totally your fault Correia, why'd you have to make it so good?), and then spent the next week trying to get a copy of "Vendetta." I burned through that one in a few hours and started looking for anything else you might have out...which lead me here, and I've got to say I'm loving the nightcrawler series. You guys work well together.
I'm also digging the cover art for dead six, though I think a hybrid between the last 2 pictures posted there would be even more awesome. I just wish I had the talent to do something like that.

So anyway, I read both Monster hunter books, "So there I was", "so there I was again" and "tales from the road," as well as "Welcome back Mr. Nightcrawler" and "the Mr. Nightcrawler trilogy: Book 1." Is there anything else out there I've missed by either of you? If I don't get my next fiction fix, I'm afraid I'll go into withdrawal and that won't be pretty.

Always a fan,

Peavy

you have got to check out Correia's Grimnoir Chronicles: Hard Magic
It's out on E-ARC electronic version on Baen's website. It's set in the 1930's where there has been magic around since the 1850's
It's got guns, John Moses Browning, and awesomeness:D

It was a great read. Final battle is awesome. Pirates, ninjas, zombies, swords, guns, magic, doomsday weapon all fighting it out in a free for all on a giant dirigible.

Wow. I read all 52 pages in two days (I was off of work, on a travel assignment). Awesome reading. I am glad NC was able to see the light, and get published along with Correia. Ya'll are too good. Thanks for the diversion.

Thanks for the heads up, I just finished 'Hard Magic.' Loved it.

I do have one question about it though, how is a Mover really different than a Heavy? I mean the one creates a telekinetic force with his mind and the other creates a gravitational force with his mind, but there's really no difference between types of forces. The only difference I can find in reading is that the mover has more finesse and do multiple objects independently while the Heavy is more of an area of effect ability. Could they be considered different degrees of the same power?
