If I may ask, where did you find those recently? I have a bunch in .45. I have not found them in 9mm but admit I have not dug deep...124 grain Golden Sabers. Decent quality for the price, about 70 cents a round. The nickel case/brass bullet doesn't corrode, so they last a while.
Don't know that they perform better or worse than anything else.
I like the Winchester 50 round 147 jhp. Particularly for the Cz P09, with 19 round magazines. They shoot where I point them and I don’t feel any hesitation to fire them off for practice at a little over 50 cents a round.

Meanwhile it's 124 HSTs or Gold Dots...
Uh... That is not advisable...fmj. practice with what you carry.
If the ammo is reliable and can penetrate far enough to hit vitals, that's all that matters, IMHO. I personally would have zero qualms if I had to defend myself with quality FMJ* rounds. That's what most militaries, NATO, and most non non-American law enforcement use around the world.Uh... That is not advisable...
Do you live in one of those states where hollow points have been outlawed?
A good idea (if its legal in your area) is to practice with a defensive ammunition and then find a training ammunition with minimal shift in impact.
I still fire a few Barnes Tac-XPD everytime I go to the range, just only a few, to make sure my aim is still true.
After those few rounds, I swap to training ammunition that closely resembles the performance for the rest of the session.
Its a very effective way to carry proper defensive ammunition and practice with it while also not spending a ton of money.

I meant FMJ, sorry. I'm in the habit of typing JHP when discussing ammo. Next, I disagree that FMJs are a bad idea at all. They do the same thing that JHP do with regards of stopping a threat. I also believe the "pass through" thing is overblown. Missing completely, which is something that's common in most law enforcement and civilian shootings, is the reason why theirs collateral damage.Well I mean JHPs are still Hollow Points, they still expand. He said hes carrying FMJs, as in training ammunition.
You can pretty much ask any expert like ex-military, Paul Harrell, the USCCA, literally hundreds of options - Carrying FMJs is a pretty bad idea.
But you are right, if it does the job then it does the job, its just a very high chance it doesn't do the job and passes right through and causes collateral damage instead.
Ya that much is true, can't disagree with that one.I meant FMJ, sorry. I'm in the habit of typing JHP when discussing ammo. Next, I disagree that FMJs are a bad idea at all. A few years ago I bought a couple cases of the XM9001. Kind of a very hot Federal 9BP or a slightly reduced 9BPLE. The 115 gr +P+. Really cheap. Supposedly, it was the RCMP load.
If I carry a 9mm, that’s what’s in it.
It was cheap. I have a lot of it. It runs well. I know where it hits.
I have my doubts that a bad guy will really know the difference between that stuff and the most high tech $1 a round offering.
The odds of me being proved wrong are astronomical.
So. I’m good.

It's not the odds, kit's the stakes.I disagree that FMJs are a bad idea at all. They do the same thing that JHP do with regards of stopping a threat. I also believe the "pass through" thing is overblown.
