I have a few friends that stop by from time to time to have me repair gun stocks. This week my friend Matt, the one that went to the CMP with me, came down from IL. with a few rifles that needed a little work.
I took the week off from work to relax and work on the stocks. It took three days to finish everything up.
Here are the rifles worked on.
#1 British EIC musket .69 caliber , crack behind lock.
#2 Dutch Mannlicher 6.5x53R, crack at wrist.
#3 Steyr M95 8x56R, crack at wrist.
#4 Bulgarian contract Steyr M95 8x50R, crack ar wrist.
#5 Chinese 1907 Mauser 8mm Mauser , crack at front of stock, replace barrel band spring and rotten wood.
#6 Manchurian/Chinese Type 13 Mauser 8mm Mauser , fit a new buttplate and fix rotted out screw holes.
#7 Hungarian 43M 8mm Mauser, re match the front of the stock where someone had sanded it.
#8 Spanish 1916 Mauser 7mm Mauser, crack ar wrist.
#9 Italian Carcano M91 6.5x52 Carcano, repaired crack at front band spring and split handguard.
#10 Steyr M1886 11.2x58R, crack at wrist.
#11 Brazilian Vergueiro Mauser 7mm Mauser, removed old masking tape residue on buttstock.
#12 FN 1922 French Navy contract .32 ACP, fixed cracks in both of the bone grip panels.
If I had given him a buddy deal on the work it would have come to around $450. But I did all the work for free. What are friends for?
