What are your guns with the most increase in value?

A mint 1942 Smith Corona 03A3. I bought it for $400 around 2009. This one has been rearsenalled by the DCM and was sold to the man I bought it from by the Alabama Army Ordinance Depot in the 60s. The original receipt was in the butt stock.

No idea on value but certainly more than 400.

In 2003 I bought a Remington Model 24 .22LR take down with nickel plated reciever for $300 from an older gentleman at a gun show. I called Remington several years ago and talked to the historian. He verified it was made in 1927 and they did make some like this, but said they did not have numbers on how many were made with nickel recievers. I have been offered $700+ for it but it isn't for sale.

Couple machine guns I got in the late 90's, that are now worth 10x's or more. DCM (not CMP) M1D I was given for helping a guy open 3 safes that were willed to him...all Springfield.

Yes, fortuitous timing is everything. MGs purchased prior to the 1986 cutoff show even more of a gain. For example, my RIA M60 is now worth easily 30x what I paid for it. But I didn't buy it as an "investment." The Hughes Amendment could not have been foreseen.

Amazing how prices have jumped since this thread started in April. Pre Covid my shop was loaded with PD trade in Glocks and M&Ps we couldn't sell for $299. Disease started and they all sold for $399. Pretty much ANY gun purchased before April has gone up in value.

List price for a python was $125 in 1956. Today, that is roughly $1200.

Imagine what $125 in stock would have done.

Buy them because you like them, not as an investment. I’ve found finding a buyer can be a challenge as well.

A5s, model 12s, and the various winchester rifles arent nearly as spendy as they were 10 years ago either. Add in a recession and the collectible market gets rough.

I’ve noticed that A5s and Model 12s don’t bring the money they used to. I attribute that to all of us old guys who hold them in high esteem have quit hunting.
From what I’ve seen, the Winchester lever actions continue to rise in value. Even the post 64 1894s are bringing $500. You used to be able to pick them up for $200-$300.
The pre-64s are bringing quite a bit more.

I bought a Colt Diamondback .22 6" newffor about $200. When I see them now at shows they are usually asking around $2,000.
Bought an SKB 200E for $600 at an auction, last one I saw was $1,200.
Several others have increased in value, but these are the best examples I have. Of course, to get the money I'd have to sell, and I don't want to.

Thinking about that makes me think I should put a couple of my guns in a safe. Other than that, I don't think about it as I would rather keep them loaded and handy.

I was actually thingking along the same line, although there certainly are exceptions to the rule. Back in the seventies, Winchester 94s could be had for a song..170.oo or so at Kmart, about a weeks pay then for me. About what I made then. Now they are going for 400-500 even for a plain jane, which is about the same pay for the same job I had back then. Try to buy one of the new ones though!

I remember when W.T. Grants was going out of business in 1974 or so. Winchester 94s were $60.

My 4-barrel Dan Wesson 15-2 pistol pac is probably the one gun I have that’s increased a lot. I paid $500 for it in 2011, it’s probably good for $1,500 now.

Others have gone up a bit, but not 3x.

Stay safe.

I'm hoping that the ones that have (or will) increase in value the most are the regimentally marked lugers for which I've found the regimental histories, translated them and acquired postcards, letters, documents and other items related to those regiments. But then if quid-pro-joe aka Bejing Biden is wins the election, well... it will all be worth nothing.

Probably the marlin 62 30 carbine. Mine is not perfect, but it’s stinking nice. I got it for $100 4 years ago. It would sell pretty easily for 650+ now. Possibly as high as 800

Ask us this question again, in about a week, or "two" (electoral votes by law Must go in by Dec. 14).

That AMD-65 (all-matching TGI, chf barrel etc) sidefolder might jump 25%, as people prepare for what they (- not I -) believe will be Boy Beto's Black Helicopters at 0400 next spring.

I bought a Rossi puma 92 in 480 ruger in about 2009. It was like new in the box for $300. Sold it last year for $1800 I believe.
I traded the matching 480 ruger revolver I bought at a pawn shop for $400. Traded for a running grain combine. Maybe 2k of value. Guy I traded liked guns and was ready to part with the combine.
I need to dig out my pile of 480 dies, brass, bullets, molds and such and I could probably do pretty good selling them too.

About a month before sandy hook I traded a guy a $500 shotgun for a rock river coyote carbine 6.8spc, after sandy hook I traded that thing for $2000 cash. Very nice machine, but I was not in love with the 6.8.

None.
Not a one.
They hit their maximum value as soon as I bought them--to me.
Functionally, none would bring more than half purchase cost.

Some have a higher replacement price than purchase price; hence insurance.

Some are irreplaceable--to me, and me alone.

55$ M-44 Mosin refurbs, in the brown paper and string wrappings out of the crate, about 2007-8.

350$-450$ EASY, nowdays,
The ones in the wrappers are premium, the shooters go for a bit less.

Like the OP, I have a treasured Colt Diamondback.22 6” barrel that I bought new for $279.00. I do have the original box, and believe it to be worth more than $1500 today. I also have a nice used S&W 4” Model 28 Highway Patrolman that I bought used back in 1998 for $225. I just picked up a 6” version, as new in box all original, possibly unfired since test fired at the factory for $875. I will try not to shoot it....Other decent buys recently were a nice PA 15 stainless .223 Wylde chambered for $500 and a PA 10 .308 Win for $560. They go for around $700 and $900 respectively today.

Three best deals:
1. Bought a Winchester Model 67 single shot 22 in a pawn shop for $10 and sold it for $200
2. Bought an old 1897 pump for $100 and sold it for $600
3. Bought a Remington 5451S for $300 and was offered $900 for it. Still got it.

The ones I got for free...S&W I-frame 22/32 HFT, Model 81 Remington, 870 Police, Mini 30, Ruger P85MKII, Ruger P95DC, , Savage model 1914 22LR, Springfield Armory XD40 Service model, Enfield No1 MKIII, H&R 923, Iver Johnson 1st model top break .32. There are possibly other I am forgetting, and they are all still here and occasionally get used, some more than others. But all were gifts, discards, etc., that meant something to me and obviously not to them. However none are for sale so the value is still zero!
