It was an old Winchester single barrel 16-gauge. I was 7 years old when my uncle brought it to the house and gave it to me. I'm the 3rd Paul to have it and I'll have it until there's another Paul in the family to give it to I guess. It's still a good shooter too.

Given my father's H&R 949 which was the first gun he bought
Bought was Ruger Single Six

my first

My first gun was a Savage bolt action 22mag I bought from my uncle for $75. My first choice of the guns have had was a remington 5 mm magnum but he would not sell it to me because the amo had been discontinued. Twenty years later I talked hlm lnto giving it to me for my birthday and. I found amo and shot the riffle today for the first time sence owning it. I love both guns.

my first guns of any kind, I bought both at the same time, two 1851 navies, one full sized traditional blue/case-hardened, the other with a shorter barrel and engraved in stainless, I had known ahead for some time that I wanted an 1851 to be my first, I think Mr. Eastwood might have had something to do with that :) -that and my Grandfather has an original that my parents keep in a safe-deposit box at the bank (since they caught me oiling it as a teen long long ago! :D).

my first cartridge-firing gun was a S&W 5906, I've poured thousands of rounds through that gun and it just keeps on truckin, I love it, and it was given to me by a great person, so I will never part with it.

First modern-firearm-purchase, was a SW1911, high-polished stainless, ltd edition 1 of 231, gorgeous gun, it was love at first sight, was shopping around while waiting for my license to arrive in the mail :)

A Sears and Roebuck single shot .22 that I bought when I was 11. A couple of years later I bought an Italian 6.5 Carcano for something like $9 out of a barrel at a discount store. Only one round out of ten of the surplus ammo actually fired. It was fun to mess with even it if the ammo sucked. The cold bluing didn't look bad.

First Gun? Daisy Red Ryder BB gun. First real gun was a Marlin 336C in .35 Rem bought with my own money when I was 15 in 1982 for $169.95. Shot my first deer with it and It remains one of my favorites today.

Was a RG 22lr snub nose revolver. OMG, what a pile of trash that was. You had to completely remove the cylinder pin to open the cylinder, then use the pin to poke out the empties. Then one day while out shooting.....Yup, lost the pin. You know, a 8lb sledgehammer isn't kind to a RG revolver.

Been raised around guns but the first gun I ever bought with my own money was a NIB GP100 when I was 17 from a guy I worked with. He bought the 6" SS and wanted a 4". I still have it.

the first gun I ever received is my converted k98k,mannlicher stock, double set triggered, chambered for 243. my father bought it for me when I was about 8 years old.

the first gun I ever bought was a Ishipore 1953 NO1 MKIII* .303
after tax and background check I ended up paying just over 100$ for it.

Remington No. 6 Rolling Block Rifle .22 short, long, and long rifle passed down from grandfather to father to me. I will give it to my son some day. It has been shot countless times and is very accurate. First gun many family members ever shot. Finish has turned to a brown patina and the wood is still pretty good. Good post - many memories.

S&W Model 18, about 17 years ago.

I traded it later on my second gun, a Colt "Fitz Special" Detective Special (hard chrome, front night sight).

I finally bought another Model 18 just after this past Christmas, and a week later I bought a matching Model 15

A Ruger 10/22 that my older brother bought me when I graduated high school. Have shot many a squirrel with it, still have it and use it regularly some 35 years later.

Bought a CZ-82 at a gun show last year. Picked it up, it felt perfect in my hands, had to buy it. Love it so much I'm probably gonna get another.

My first was a Sears model 42 (A Marlin 80 in disguise, I think), given to me in 1965 for my 10th birthday.
The first I bought was a Dan Wesson 15-2V in the late 70's. Sadly, neither is with me now.

My first gun I received as a gift for my 12th birthday, a Firearms Intl Bronco 22. My dad went to the store to buy me a pellet rifle and the Bronco was cheaper.......My oldest daughter now owns it.

The first gun I bought for myself was a .303 Enfield No. 4 for $75. The stock had been cut down but it still shot good. Should have kept that one.

NEF 20 ga single for Christmas when I was 11, still have it but don't really use it, it sits in the back of the safe.. The first gun I bought and paid for with my own money was a Ted Williams 20 ga semi auto with a Polychoke the next year, it was a real piece of junk, promptly let it go and bought a 12 ga 870 that is still in normal rotation as my go to shotgun.

First gun I ever received was some cheap single shot .410, purchased at walmart. Went through 3 of them before we finally just returned it. It was a Christmas present, it would never eject the shell reliably, typically jamming the shell rim un top the ejector.

After that, as for my very own gun (since that one didn't stay with me), it wasn't until I was able to buy my own 10/22

Winchester M190 rifle in 22LR. It came from my stepfather after he and I finally convinced my gun-shy mom to allow me to have it. I was eighteen, and an aspiring LEO, so I think she was realizing that there would be a gun in the home eventually if I got such a job before moving out (which I did.)
That was in early 1986. That summer, he died, and his son came around looking for that rifle. It left with him, and was quickly replaced with a Ruger 10/22, which I still own.
