Who are you?

Turkish,

Just wondering, before you might get some weird looks, or worse, responses from other High Road members here. I'm assuming that at age 17, all your firearms are registered to your parent(s). Am I correct? Also, have you already graduated high school and attend college? I know some students, who are accelerated, graduate early.

If I'm assuming correctly (read: you're not BSing us), you seem to be a quite intelligent and successful young person at such a young age. If so, it's quite refreshing, let alone your enthusiasm, knowledge, and hobby of firearms; which I really wish more young people would get into these days, as I'm seeing more "old-timers" and not enough "youngins" at my local range.

For your security guard friend, might I recommend a Sig-Sauer or an H&K. A full-size Beretta would fit the bill nicely as well. For duty rigs, I'm stuck on Bianchi and Safariland.

Welcome to The High Road!

Im 43, happily married 17 years to the same beautiful woman and one beautiful Son. I work as the Director of Operations for a MAJOR University in pa.. LClick the link below to see my family, myself and car pics:)

Longest thread... ever.

I'm 29 years old, doctor. I was born in Hong Kong, but became an American at the ripe age of two.

I'm single, and own a bunch of guns. Up to my eyeballs in debt. Used to live in Chicago, now live in Baltimore. Neither is a friendly place for my hobby.

Figured this was as good a place as any to introduce myself...

My name's Mike. I'm 36 years old. I recently moved to Los Angeles after living in New York City for the previous 13 years.

Frankly, I don't see what all the hubbub over California being unfriendly to guns is about... In NYC, I couldn't even have one. ;)

Anyway, I'm a former Marine but make my living in the acting biz (don't listen to everything Bill Whittle says) and I'm looking forward to my first handgun purchase. I'd love a Colt Python but might go for something a little less expensive.

I've lots of questions to ask (Semi vs. Revolver; S&W vs. Ruger; Home Defense; Safety vs. Accessibility; Best Gun Safe; "How to fix _insert shooting_problem_here_ ; etc.), so I imagine I'll be spending a bit of time here.

Glad to be aboard. See you around.

Mid 40s, still married to first wife (22 years), kids.
Academic/Administrator at a private college.
More guns than I can shoot regularly and, for the first time ever, I'm not itching for anything new.

Newly turned 20, feeling old already. College student, 2 part-time jobs, one at the service desk of a large retailer (please don't be rude to us) and one working with estate sales. Owner of one Finnish M39, love it to death, always looking for something new, if only I had the means....

18 and an independent contractor...
Basically, when my uncle's boss needs me, I go put putty in nail holes for $7 an hour.
Go me.
I only have one gun of my own, but my dad's guns are stored here so they might as well be mine too.
Available!1 PM me with pix!!!!11

Who me?

Let's see. I'm 36, married, have a two year old girl and a baby boy who is almost 2 months old. (Late start, but they are worth it :D ). I work at a local hospital as a mental health counselor and as a emergency medical tech. I am active in Wilderness Search & Rescue, Cave Rescue, HAM radio, Swiftwater Rescue; though the wee ones and the Mrs. have kept me closer to home. I enjoy all the fishing, hunting, hiking, shooting, photography stuff and love the outdoors. I landscape, garden around the house and my daughter helps out. For that matter she has already done 2 mile hikes with me, without my assistance in any way!

Hi everybody.

New to this forum, though I have been on a couple others for a little while.

I am a 25 year old steel worker.

I don't have a whole lot of money, but I work hard, so I try to get myself something nice once in a while. Usually it is a gun, but some new fishing equipment or a new golf club gets in there sometimes too. Right now, I'm thinking about a gas grill. (Of course I'll keep the old Weber too.)

I think I need a fairway driver. My iron shots just aren't doing it for me lately, unless I'm inside 100 yards or so.

Skipped through most of these, just becuase there were so many.

Anyway, I'm 27, married with a 10 month old daughter. I'm a structural analyst (aka Mechanical Engineer) working in the defense industry. Tomorrow I will again own a house, I have 2 dogs, 3 birds and my wife still drives the Honda my parents let me take to college (it already had 95K miles at that time, now it's up to 177K). I don't buy many guns. Last one was a CZ 550 for deer hunting. All told I've spent only less than $1800 on all my guns. I want to buy more and time will eventually allow, but I'm socking as much away into savings as I can at the moment. Once my wife starts working (probably in about 7-10 years depending on how many more kids we have) I'll be able to buy A LOT more.

I just got here, anyway, I'm 19, a sb shooter on the NCSU rifle team, former Optimist-Acorn (well, I don't know if I'm counted as former, but I don't get to shoot with them much anymore :( ), I'm studying mechanical engineering, although civil is also looking good. I hope to see ya'll around.

Well lets see. I'm 19, 20 in 14 days. I'm the corporate security officer for a large company. Single :p , currently studying for the A+ certification in computers and waiting until I can take the State Trooper test.

Currently only own a Henry lever action .22, and will be picking up a M48 this week which I plan on starting hunting with. Got introduced at a very young age to guns, a father (who was on the cover of field and stream) gave me my first one, a .22 "chipmunk" when I was about 6. But long story short I have to ask in forums like this about hunting tips. Have multiple air guns, about 7 in total, and have shot those at least 4 or 5 times a week for the past 8 years.

Not sure why I haven't posted in this thread yet.

36 YO, Jewish but leaning towards agnostic, married to a schoolteacher, have two amazing daughters (2 YO and 7 months).

Practiced law for couple of years then jumped into IT. Linux geek, MCSE, dabbling with Macintosh stuff. Currently employed by a large cable ISP as a commercial product engineer. Figuring out if I want to jump back into law. Do some side work IT consulting for a few local small businesses.

I've been accumulating guns since fellow Highroader RON in PA ("Dad") bought me a Daisy 99 BB gun at the age of 8. My current focus is on EBRs and handguns, especially older S&W wheelguns. Other interests include computers, history, and my blog (see my sig).

Let's give this a whirl...

30 year old going on 31 in May.

Married, 5 years. 1 daughter, 13 months old. 1 dog Half Akita/German Shepherd mix.

Lived in Canada for 25 of my years. Spent the next 5 in Detroit. Just recently moved to Houston, TX.

Spent the previous 5 years living in a free country trying to catch up to everyone else around these parts. Unfortunately that leaves me with more firearms than training. So I've stopped buying guns, and will start spending money on more range time and more training. I think I'm pretty much caught up for the time being with 4 x .22lrs, 15 9mms, 1 357sig, 5 .45acps, 1 10mm, 4 .223s, 2 7.62x39s, 4 .308s, 1 .30-06, 1 12 gauge.

Trying to find an indoor range around here. Houston gets mighty hot in the summers.

Oh yeah, when I'm not on the internet or at the range (not since I moved down here), I've been known to be a retail merchandise planner. Although I am thinking civil service might not be a bad thing.. IRS is a consideration.

Early thirties, BBA, MA in criminology, IT consultant, live in Finland with spouse and dog. Spouse will graduate from the U this year... which will increase our income considerably. Means by no means unlimited (pun intended) but no enormous need for quantities of hardware either. I consider ammo (i.e. skill) the best investment.

This year I'll be saving to get a better car due to regular mileage on my job, maybe will have the €€€ to get one gun. Next year perhaps another... and I guess that regime of acquisitions will keep me going fine. If only one day I'd get enough spared to tour most major gun skools of the US... ;) :)

im a 22 YO Guy
Married for two years now
i am USAF, stationed at Travis.. i was born and raised in the east bay area in California.

currently i am an air transportation journeyman and am working on reenlisting
so as to further my career serving my country.

im a fan of WWII fire arms and am on the correct path to collecting with a K98k Mauser and an M1 Garand

72 years young, single, retired unoin organizer, and able to buy occasionally a fine piece.

I'll play.

I'm a 37 year-old Information Technology Specialist, currently separated with an ex-wife, a mortgage, and a twelve year-old daughter. I have only one pet, an extremely affectionate short-haired house cat. The truck is paid for, I have no credit card debt, I live simply, and I'm mercifully free of most vices which saves me quite a bit. However the child support payments do cut significantly into my gun money and thus I've only managed to buy three in the past twelve months. At present I'm debating the merits of working part-time in order to buy myself a nice AR-15, since I'd rather not have to dip into the savings account or subsist on tuna salad for the next five months. ;)

So build one for $515.....

A total match grade will cost you less than $1000.

Well the one I really have my sights set on is a Colt tactical carbine marked "For Law Enforcement/Military use only." Besides, to be absolutely candid I know so little about AR's that I wouldn't know how to go about building one and selecting the components.

53 yo US Merchant Marine Officer (Engineer). Although I'm winding down my sea-going career, I still make the run out to Hawaii. Live on the front lines against the gun-grabbers here in San Francisco. My wife's job is in the city, so that's why we are still here.

Although I mostly sail commercial container ships, I have proudly worked on government contract ships going back over 30 years. This includes 3 ammunition ships & a troop ship during Vietnam. Came back from a trip to the Persian Gulf on an ammo ship in '99 & said I'd had enough. It's time to stay closer to home. Have a wonderful wife of 9 years. She fully supports my love of firearms.

Support Our Troops

Steve (Still waiting for my C&R license to come in the mail)
