Made a big big mistake this weekend, my daughter came by for a visit and the discussion turned to my daughter wanting advise on a home defense gun. Now my kids grew up with just about every type weapon know to the world and maybe a few that were never seen. Any whoo I gave a few suggestions, and then made the mistake of showing her a couple that would have worked for her. This morning my wife came into the den where I hibernate, and with that typical look that only a wife can give, said I Didn't know you had that many guns, and where did these others come from. Now trying to do damage control, and also give warning to others from my mistake. :D

I make sure my wife knows about every gun I buy and how much it is worth. If I am ever in an accident I don't want some scum bag scamming her.

Do you know how many pairs of shoes she has (or any other items she may "celebrate diversity" with)?
Guns have been known to procreate and multiply :)

Very few things you own retain their value like guns.....think of it as a savings account....better yet a hedge against inflation. Afterall, It's for the children.;)

You blew it! You forgot the old stand by line, "Honey, are you kidding, I've had this gun for years." Believe me it works every time. LOL

The secret is having a big gun safe and guns for all the things you like to do. Like Police work, Cowboy Action Shooting, and Hunting. That way they have no idea what or where the guns came from.

PS Of course you have to remember the, "Yes Dear, you're always right" and if that fails, "You know you would look good with a new dimond ring."

I dont hide my purchases of firearms and I wont buy without asking if its ok with the wife. She rarely says no and if she does she now knows what to get me for the next christmas/birthday.

Every time I have gone to look at guns the wife has gone with me.......and pays for the gun I want. I tell her that I feel guilty about her paying for them and her response is "get what you want", so I got a Beretta 92FS Inox. I might add that she enjoys target shooting, watching football, watching golf, and tells me she'll clean her own Beretta Cheetah. I wouldn't dare tell her she can't have anything she wants! :)

my wife has always known what guns i have..... i had a pretty sreious med procedure done ten days ago so my wife and i sat in the night before we went over and listed what there was and what she should ask for them...... i don't have that many but don't want her getting ripped off either...........

Buy em all before you're married.

Except I like that "I have always had these guns." line, I think I will write that down for the distant future.

my wife says i am not your typical man. maybe she is right. but i would not as a husband throw something like "well you have x number pairs of shoes" in her face. Like that is anywhere near the same cost wise anyway.

2ndly i don't hide things from my wife, anything, we have an open and honest relationship, if i got a gun and wasn't able or didn't think she would like the idea that i got another behind her back without atleast saying something that is the same as lying IMHO.

Glad you are still with us, and I hope there weren't any complications.

My better half sounds a little like Labhounds. Christmas + Birthdays are the best!

I know I got lucky, I'd like to think I'm special to her too, if nothing else it helps me to keep trying my best.

Any guy here that thinks the way some of you think should be temp banned until they tell and show their wives exactly how many guns they have and how much they are worth.

Quit lying to your best friend or at least they were at one time, now is the time to make it right.

And that said my wife knows how many guns I have and where they are.

On vacation his weekend I was drooling over a Sub 2000 in .40SW. Momma said "get it. It will be your valentines day gift."

I about cried.

Don't do "damage control." Say nothing. Let it pass. The more you talk, the more you give legitimacy to her view that you have "too many guns." Don't do the "how many shoes/purses do YOU have" crappola that some have suggested. It dinged your pride when she focused on the amount of your guns, but don't make it worse. It didn't happen. She KNOWS where they came from (some gun store) and the funny part is she doesn't even care. She's trying to get more information out of you. It didn't happen. Stop talking about it. Go on about other things as if the "discovery" hadn't happened.

Step 1: Get a new wife

Step 2: ???

Step 3: Profit

(you'll only get it if you watch Southpark, specifically the episode with the Underpants Gnomes)
