Reading the thread about the new load manual coming out I realize I won’t need to buy any more. I’m shooting one load in my 357(158 Lee swc over 5.0 grains of bullseye), one load in 38(a Lee 148 wc over 2.7 grains of bullseye), and now 4 loads in 6 9mm’s using Lee 124 cast and coated or RMR 124 MPR’s all with BE-86, and in 223 2 loads, one with bulk 55 fmj and one with RMR 69 3GH both with BL-C2.

I worked up these loads, some many years ago, and that’s just what I load for that gun/caliber. I keep have always kept 5 years worth of components based on what I was shooting before The Great Silliness hit so I won’t need to change anything. I’m not buying any more guns, I’m not looking to stock new bullets or change powders, and I don’t hunt. I guess I’m just content with what I have and it covers all my needs. Anyone else content?

About half content. I don’t do anything new in 45 auto. I don’t do new stuff often in 30-30, though I have ideas to. I’m still playing with 44 special. It doesn’t take much for me to settle on a load. But then I still experiment once I get a good working load to use.

I'm soooo late to the game. I have got 1 pistol dialed in and 1 close. Zero of 20 rifles dialed and the one pistol dialed has a mold. The rest is a project in motion. I had a second pistol which was my first to get dialed and I traded it for another project. Nugluton for punishment I guess.

I have established load for all my rifles and pistols that shoot pretty much as well as I want them to. However, with some of the bullets Ive shot in those established loads being in short supply, Ive had to start looking at other stuff. Fortunately most of the pistol bullets I shoot come from places like RMR or Acme, and availability is pretty good for those. I lucked into an incredible deal in fall of 2019 and bought tons of primers, so Im good there. I have enough powder to make it about another year, but I just recently picked up some TAC and 2520 for some 308 load dev for my AR10 as I used to use 8208 XBR which is also impossible to get. My 6 CM is another perfect example of running out of components. Shoots 109 Berger Hybrids lights out, however they are near unobtanium right now, and with only a couple 100 left before spring I had to start looking at other bullets. The 108 ELD-Ms have shot well in this gun with some of the factory ammo Ive tried, so I picked up 500 of those even though I have never had exceptional luck with Hornady bullets in my reloads. I found 500 107 SMKs for a good price as well, and Ive always had decent luck with Sierra bullets. So once the weather hits about 60 degrees, load testing all the stuff I have loaded in the last month will start.

I've got some loads for some calibers with which I'm satisfied, but I don't usually buy up lots of components therefore things continually change in my inventory. So then, my load development never ends...fortunately, I find load development and reloading in general as much of enjoyable pastime as punching paper.
I'm the content type, but often if I want to continue to reload I'm forced by powder availability into another brand I have to do new workups for.

I suppose I'm content. I don't experiment with loads so much anymore. But I used to. I All of the different partial cans of powder on my shelf bares witness to that. But I will place a pretty large order for bullets if Sierra ever comes back in stock. And a large primer order if they ever return to normal. I spent a few hours last night browsing through Gunbroker. So maybe I'm not as content as I thought!

Im content. I feel in love with bullseye over the past few years. And always liked unique for my big bore hand gun loads. And the dot powders for light rifle loads. But i like to keep on the latest data too. My son got into 6.5 creed moor . There isn't much cast data on it. A lot of the loads i worked up for it. I did by comparing data with casings close to the same volume. It would be nice to see data matching what i came up with.

I have a few loads that I like a lot. I'll load those until I run out of that powder or bullet. Then, I'll work something up with the next powder.
I have a number of 1lb bottles of pistol powder I bought to try, so I want to use them up.

I also have loads I'm content with, along with some I'm still working on.

With component availability (or lack of) for the last year or so, I have several powders to try still.

Once I find a sub-MOA group for a particular hunting rifle and bullet combination I’ll stay with it. I play with loads for range guns all the time.

That’s about what I figured I’d see for responses. In my case I have about 150 pounds of ww lead set aside for 357, about 100 pounds of pure for the 38, and a few hundred pounds of mixed for the 9’s. I shoot probably the same amount of 38 & 357 and the 357 has its own 8# jug of bullseye, the 38 has a 4# jug, and the 9 has at least another 12-14# of be-86 awaiting it. For some reason I only use CCI 500 in the revolvers and self defense loads, just always have, so i stashed enough of them away, the 9’s get whatever primers were on sale at Midsouth as I can drive there and pick them up(powder too).

The 223 is what got me in the same pickle as many of you. I have an AR and had enough components for it for the duration, then luck favored me and I got a Savage bolt I wanted. Luckily RMR has bullets, I would like some different powders to try, but I can use what I have for now, but primers I am not where I’d like to be at. I have prided myself on never having paid over 24.99/1000 for primers and had to dig deep and pay 7.99/100 for the 800 I found. Now I can work up a load for the savage and once I find a good one I probably will load the rest of my components with that load and call it good.

When I was younger and in better health it was fun to go out a couple times a week and test this load or that load, adjust and repeat till I got it nailed down. Now it is almost a chore to pack up everything and head out to the range, so maybe that plays a bigger part than I thought. I don’t know, I still enjoy it, but now I’d rather have the load worked up and just shoot it.

I was. My favorite loads in my favorite cartridges were worked out many decades ago, mostly by people like Elmer Keith. Those loads did everything I wanted and I could never come up with anything better. The trouble is that they all depend on Alliant powders, and I'm nearly out. I've been more-or-less thrown back into the "working up loads" game, and I'm not getting the kind of enjoyment out of it that I used to. Stupid end of the world.

I have favorite loads for most of the different handgun cartridges that I shoot. I have alternate loads for many as well incase my favorite powder is unavailable.

I’m not as complete with favorite loads for rifles as many I do not shoot very often. I have adequate loads but there is room for improvement with many of them.

But, over the years, the powder manufactures have changed some of their max load data for a particular powder. Suddenly, my under max load was over max. This is one reason I keep up with the published data.

I just picked up 5 pounds of TAC. Since Varget may never be seen again, it’ll be my .223 powder. I already downloaded the digital version from Western Powders. I’m juggling the idea of trying out CFE Pistol in place of Titegroup, but I already have the newest Hodgdon manual. And CFE Pistol is extremely scarce. I don’t see a new $50 hardbound book in my future. I’m pretty content also.
