You get 1k to buy a firearm. What would be going home with you?

Fella's;

Not that I'm lusting after anything at this time. But, if forced to buy a gun or guns with a grand I'd probably take a nice .45 ACP target pistol from any of several different makers. Unless I ran across a Ruger 4" stainless GP100 with adjustable sights first. Then I'd spend the rest on good whiskey & maybe a scope.

$1k isn't a lot to spend on a firearm. I've got a few that are worth more than that. But at the moment I'd like to pick up a better bolt-action for hunting. I think I could get a low-end R700 and some good Nikon glass for under a grand, though I could easily spend over 1k on that combo as well. If it's just $1k for the gun, then I could get a better R700 and even better glass! I'd also like to try a good Leupold scope, though that's been way out of my price range so far.

Oh, but staying on the thread topic, if I could only own one gun and could spend a grand on it, I'd go with a Sig 220 or 226.

A CZ 452 is all that's even on my list right now. Though if I saw a good deal on an S&W Model 41, I might like that.

Right now, I'm actually selecting an optic to use on my "distance" ARs (an SPR clone and an S&W M&P 10). I also want to change out the sights on my RIA 1911 in 9mm. And I want to work on the trigger on my Colt/Umarex 1911 in 22LR, which probably means replacing some parts with a trigger kit from Brownells. Stuff like that.

Basically, at this point I'd rather have time to shoot what I have, and tweak them a little, than get more.

If I can't buy ammo...

A Glock 30 Gen 4 and a Glock 17 Gen 4. I'll pay the difference.

marlin XT-22MTW
ruger Blackhawk 357mag stainless 6.5"

that would probably use most of the budget but I would also want either a marlin 1894C or a Winchester 1892 357mag carbine

A 10/22, a Ruger American in .308 and a Mossberg 500: the last elements of my functional needs list (as opposed to my extensive "want" list.

USPSA entry level limited gun.

Typically something modified to work in USPSA and not a purpose built gun since those run 2k+.
