In line w/ a similar thread in the "revolver" sub-forum; let's hear it. Your dream Autoloader. Your "Holy Grail". Whether it's a production gun, or a dream gun, let's see it.....
That's an almost impossible question for me to answer, so I'll be sure to mention it at my next Overthinkers Anonymous meeting. For many years, a 1911, any 1911, was my Grail Gun. Then I got one, and while I love that gun, I guess that moves the goalpost off of "basic 1911."
Other than that, I'll just throw a few things out. Any one of them could be my Holy Grail on any given day, but this list is by no means exhaustive.
1.
Guncrafter No Name Government -- I don't see Guncrafter mentioned as often as Wilson Combat or Les Baer, or any of the other big names, but I like the simple look of the No Name. Always have.
2.
Rock River Poly 1911 -- If I ever hit the lottery I'm going to buy one of these just to put a couple of thousand rounds through it. I really want to see: (1) if a poly frame holds up in a 1911 design; and (2) does the trigger still feel like a 1911 trigger?
3. A
Nighthawk Browning Hi Power -- I've had BHPs on the brain lately, and I think I'd really enjoy one that's been worked over by a 'smith.
4. The Mrs. McGee Special -- Carries 15 rounds of .45 in a pistol the size of a Shield, and recoils like a .22LR ..... Clearly, there are some bugs in this design that I need to work out, but these seem to be her parameters for a carry pistol. ETA: As long as I'm building this thing, I'd better make it integrally suppressed, too, huh?
And obviously, a full custom 1911 or BHP would definitely fit the bill for me on dream guns.
