you favorite gun-related misspellings

my No.1 is "Rugar Beercat" - the ultmate beer can blaster, i suppose :cool:

No.2 would be then "Baretta pistol", the "light nine'ty" hand cannon ;)

So, what's your fav's?

I love when stupid blissninny reporters mix up calibers and mm. Such as "the alleged robber carried a 45 millimeter pistol."
 
Clips vs. magazines.
Bullets do not go into guns. Cartridges go into guns, bullets come out of guns along with a big boom, a bit of a flash and the casing...
Ditto the inability for bliss-ninnies to figure out metric and caliber. I have seen the .9 mm in print (Boston Globe)...seems a bit small for my tastes.
Cop Killer bullets seem to be both hollow point and armor piercing at the same time(!)
 
Them partridge front sights, kind of hard to see with all of the feathers, and the white stuff all over the barrel really ruins the finish.

Patridge, not partridge the bird.
 
The local "Trader Mart" type paper often shows "Smith & Western" revolvers for sale. However, I'd imagine the folks selling the goods are the culprits, and the Trader Mart employees are just printing the ad as it was given to them.
 
Oh yes, those local trader papers are great. Around here we have the IWANNA, which commonly prints mistakes in nomenclature, brand names, calibers and whatnot. I can only assume most mistakes occur during the transition from Emailed or phoned in ad requests to print, as I doubt the actual seller is capable of some of the errors I've caught.

Though the mistakes are numerous, I really liked the "Roguer standless ranch" rifle a few years back, or the "Israeli made U21" and "Enfield with polymer stick" in a local paper last year. I'd really love to have one of those u21's, but I can't seem to find any... must have been one-of-a-kind.

:( I always seem to miss the good deals.
 
Some ppl have bad handwriting, not to mention the amount of ads that IWANNA does weekly, it wouldnt surprise me if they dont double-check anything but the phone number, if that.

I love how they list their policy of not listing "assualt weapons" or pre-ban guns, at the beginning of the section, especially when half the rifle ads are for EBRs.

Well it's kind of PG-13 rated but the local trading post listed a Man Licker Carbine for sale. I found out your co-workers look at you funny when you start laughing while reading for sale adds.
