Single action revolver isn’t really my thing...
You lost me here.
Single action revolver isn’t really my thing...
Im in the market for a new pistol or revolver. Really hoping to get something that’s purely fun, cool, or pleasurable to shoot. I want something that’s just a little bit different than than what I already own: a G19, Shield 9, and G19 .22.
Thinking about a few different things:
- A WWII styled 1911 a1, the auto ordnance model
-Some sort of .22 DA or DA/SA revolver
- Some kind of classic .38 or .357
- an all metal DA/SA pistol with a rail, like a 226 or similar
- a full size Glock 21 style pistol
I’m open to all of the Highroad braintrusts suggestions, but it needs to be semi reasonably priced and be in a common caliber :9mm, .45, 357/.38, or .22 in that order. I’m almost completely against .40, but a pistol that offers the 40-9(-357) conversion easily could be in the running like a G22 may be a possibility.
A pistols ability to accept preban magazines is a major bonus since I’m behind enemy lines in Massachusetts. In fact, I’ll be trying to swap a preban magazine for most of the value of whatever pistol I decide on.
Thanks in advance!
My eyes are young but not great! I really appreciate the history of a 1911 which is why it’s appealing. You already have two Glocks, so I personally wouldn't lean that way.
A WWII styled 1911 would be very nice, unless your eyes are old enough that you can't use the tiny sights. If there is a classic looking 1911 you like that has more modern sights, that would be my vote.
To me it is between a SIG-Sauer P226 and a DA/SA .22L.R. revolver like the SP101 or the GP100, the SP101 being probably more versatile and even more fun that its bigger brother.Im in the market for a new pistol or revolver. As a fellow MA gun owner I would go with the Sig P226 or a Beretta 92FS . They are not stupid expensve, they shoot nice, and there are pre ban hi capacity magazines for sale here in MA for them.My eyes are young but not great! I really appreciate the history of a 1911 which is why it’s appealing.
Part of my hesitation about some of the guns I listed and have been suggested is that in MA, “high capacity” options can disappear without notice, legally. It’s happened before. I give a lot of thought to purchasing anything because I may not have a chance to get some things again.
I actually do have an advantage arms slide which lives permanently on a Glock frame.I enjoy shooting all of my guns but when it comes to “Fun” I think .22lr revolver or semi-auto. I love my .22 revolvers. Fun to shoot. Cheap to shoot and easy to clean up after. I do not currently have a .22 semi-auto but I am planning to remedy that. Unfortunately I am in California do my options are very limited.
When I want to have fun with guns I take my grandson and son-in-law shooting and we have little competitions with .22’s. It’s a lot of fun.
One thing you might consider since you have Glocks is a .22 conversion for your Glock. Just a thought.
