My Glock 19 that so far has over 4k rounds without a single hiccup. Hopefully many more thousands of the same will follow.

Colt XSE Combat Commander is my best shooting handgun and the one I most often have with me. While I won't be buried with it, I hope to have up until that time.

That Marlin is nice.

Well it's a 1967 and while it has a few dings and bright spots it levers smooth and so far not one jam of any kind. I use LeverRevolution power and 170s with a Lee crimp die. 2300 fps or so. Here in Texas I surely don't need more power unless I go to for Antelope.

When I say "go to" I mean the the gun that you've owned for years and years, used under difficult circumstances (a all week rain in the bush for example) and never failed you. ...

One that's never failed me and I'd pick up at anytime would be my Remington 725 .280 Remington. Bought it new in 1962 and it shoots as true today as it did then. Over many a mile in all kinds of weather, it has put many game animals in the freezer for me.

Well you got me beat. I've only owned my M70 since 1976. Kids today...

Oh good Lord, I ask myself this question all the time.
My Ruger, LCP is always with me but I have a S&W 642 that I dearly love and my S&W 66-1 is an absolute jewel but the S&W model 10 is every bit as good as is my S&W model 1006 but then my Colt Delta Elite is a classic and has a Bar-Sto installed barrel.
My S&W 629 is a bit to big to carry but is a superb gun none the less and I feel privileged to own an early S&W model 63 but would not use it for self defence because I have two Star PD's for that as well as a Star BKM, all look like new.
I feel like I'm leaving so many out, but you see it's so hard to pick a go to gun and let's not get started on longs guns or I would have to consult my records.
I'm not a gun nut, I just love fine craftsmanship.
Now where did I put that list?

Anyone of my Springfield XD's. Either 16+1 9mm or 13+1 45 acp.
Lately, I've been shooting a lot more 9mm due to arthritis.

If I could only have one gun, it would be my Remington 870. It can do it all. hdbiker

All I'm reading is there's going to be way too many well armed zombies...

Can somebody please pass a law to prevent this future epidemic!?

Edit; my browning BPS was my first gun at age 11. It didn't fit me but I like to think that hundreds of rounds of trap beat my soft bones to fit the gun.

Wow Jim, good question. Like my children, it's tough to pick one. But if I had to GO TO only one? I have to go with my S&W 686 4" .357. It's just perfect!

I second the motion for a S&W 686 4" .357.......I love mine.... and not just for the 357 aspect; it also shines with some +P+ 158 gr. hard cast SWC .38 Spl. handloads

I you could only afford one handgun, you couldn't do any better than a S&W 686, 4", 38/357 caliber. It covers a broad range of uses.
Well, of course that's just my opinion.
