The THR 1851/1860 Club

Suntiger those Pietta .36 navy with squareback trigger guard are very nice and it looks like they have the new 2015 grip shape. I was not aware one could get the squareback with the new grip shape. Would you mind telling where you got them and what year they were made?

Gladly
Bought them from Dixie Gunworks... Got the first in March ... Realized I had an 1851 obsession and the other I ordered last Sunday and got it Wednesday ... They have CM stamped on them ... Which I understand may mean made sometime in 14?

The one is wonderfully accurate ... And I will be at the range with both after breakfast to shoot the newest for the first time ...

Well, I have discovered that having two 1851s at the range is , indeed, more fun than one... this isn't habit forming, right?

Suntiger

Really like the brace of '51 Navies with the squareback trigger guard! The dark wood grips look great too!

Thanks! I am sure enjoying them and my return to black powder after a long hiatus... Very glad I found this site...

I spent lunch today carefully polishing the brass and oiling the wood of the grips. This ol' Grrl looks brand new again! Still awaiting the snow to melt around here up in the hills so a shooting report might be assembled. Pics:
regards!

Mr. McGee has it! ( sorry, was off nuking some dinner ) It's a .44, beautiful to the eye and to the touch however they made it. Smooth action and points well. The standard Navy type grip with the Pietta 'tail' has me placing my pinky under the grip frame to hold it steady.
regards!

I really like the look of your .36 with the white grips and the steel frame. ;o) It's a treat for the eyes! I don't mind the tail on mine so much, helps to fill my palm. My favorite grips are the 'Slim Jim' types on the Walker and Whitney Dragoon.
regards!

I love those Third Generation Colts!!! They all had a real nice polished blue on them that really make them shine.

I had a Third Generation 1860 Army with a full fluted cylinder that was one heck a shooter and with stout loads also. I just couldn't get use to the full fluted cylinder and being I had a 1860 Army Repro already that was showing signs of progress traded her away.
