Do you name your guns?

It occurred to me while reading this thread. Of all my possessions if any deserve a name it would be my toilet, it doesn't have one.

I name my vehicles but not my guns.

Mine is named "Broke".

My wife named our Russian Makarov "Ivan." That became a generic code word for any firearm. If either one of us tells the other to "bring Ivan," we will know go armed and prepared for trouble. Given our life style and location, such an incident is unlikely but part of our preparedness.

My 12 gauge is Old Thunder
The S&W is Smith
The Colt is Colt
I guess I'm not very imaginative

Hey I like the name Ivan for a Makarov. Must be the my Russian genes.

I have a AR project named “The Purple People Eater”. Next month I am going to have the Upper, Lower and Handguard Ceracoated Purple. The gun was inspired by @GunnyUSMC.

Sometimes the names take a theme,,,
I have a set of four S&W Revolvers I call The Harem.

Model 67 is Morgana
Model 63 is Lilith

All Witchy Women of one ilk or another.

Anyways, it amuses me to spend some time thinking of an appropriate name when I get a new gun.

I'm still musing on what to name my new-2-me Beretta 81.

Either Gina or Sophia would be appropriate.

I didn't name them, but I do have a couple of single shots named "Henry."

That's awesome.

When wife and daughter in their height of selecting breeding stock, our number of chickens grew to 80. To my shock, they named every one of them and readily told them apart (I only managed to remember and could tell apart maybe around 10).

But as cockerels got "cocky" and started to harass the hens, daughter would change their names to "chicken dinner/soup" as she was the executioner and adored savior to the hens.

"The Purple People Eater" was sung by Sheb Wooley who was one of the cowhands in the TV show "Rawhide."

I tend to use *names* for inanimate objects only to differentiate like-classed items when it happens a bunch.
3 Jeeps so the purple one is Barney and the Army Willys is Gomer.

Got a butt-load of AR-based but only two get referred to to my wife as in; "Did we bring ******?"... so one is *Severance* (long story) and this is Gumby!

The only one I've named is my Mosin Nagant, Ivan.
It's Russian. They made millions of them. They're all Ivan.

I've only named four: Thunder the AK, Lighting the AR, The Holliday Special the 12ga coach gun, Nightfall the Rem 700, that's it for now, but I've got some more guns without names...

I do have the EAA "Vindacator", and that seems to have stuck, so I guess that one too, but that's the models name so, I don't know if that counts

Only one - Trash Panda, my AR Frankenrifle that was first assembled with few purchased parts and many donated parts.



Even made a video - warning, it has music in it, for the purists.

How about Tony? They are all named Tony. (sorry, just got that from watching. "The Irishman" on Netflix in reference to the name of one of the Italian mob guys When Hoffa ask about a certain mob guys name.)

I've named some of mine just for fun. They end up being named after composer or hockey players, etc. related to their history.

My first VZ-24 is named Hejduk (pronounced hey-duke) after a Czech hockey player
My Finn captured M91-30 is named Sibelius.
My CZ-82 is named Smetana.
There are a more. About half of them have names.

I guess that makes me odd.

My wife named my truck Jezebel because she thinks the truck doesn't like her. It's too tall for her to get in easily and her seat belt is hard to buckle. I have running boards on the way to ease at least part of that. If we need to take the truck for something, we have a folding step-stool that helps her get in. It's not like it's that tall being a stock full-size 96 GMC.

My firearms are named what the stamps say. Walther, AR etc. I think the last firearm I named was "picky little bitch" for my AMT Backup 380. Aptly named. I don't recall a single kind of hollow point it could handle reliably, and some FMJ jammed it up as well.

I always like the Sniper Rifle I saw with this inscription "TILL DEATH DO US PART". I am guessing a Sniper gets to know his rifle very well, and becomes very attached.
