I recently have started using gun socks for most of the guns in my safe. Just cheap ones off of Amazon. I have not had any issues in the past two years that I have noticed. I also do have a dehumidifer running 24/7 in the room as well though.
I wouldn't pay more than $550 for that and I'd be alot happier at $450. If you have patience I'd wait for a better price. Make sure you check the timing.
I think it is a good choice. There are pistols I definitely like more but if I can only have one it would be the Glock 17. Here are the reasons:
1. Reliability; they just work, plus the magazines are very reliable
2. Not too large to carry, but large enough to shoot quickly

I think it boils down to what you are wanting out of the gun. Are you wanting a traditional 45-70 lever gun? Get the Cimarron. Do you only purchase American made firearms? Get the Henry. Myself I would prefer the Cimarron, I prefer the Browning action and only loading gate feeding.
