Ruger hawkeye 7mag loaded with 120gr barnes TSX or 45-70 buffalo classic or hornady SST slugs out of a 11-87 with a rifles barrel

Sporterized Mauser 98' action (Zastava) with a light weight Douglas .308Win barrel that is drilled/tapped for leupold rings/bases.

Hand made wood stock (by me) and an adjustable 2.5 lb Timmney Trigger.

Got any pictures? Sounds interesting.

jpwilly,
You wrote "Got any pictures? Sounds interesting".

I don't any pics at this time. My bolt is at the gunshop having a new lighter firing pin as well as an upgraded wolfe hammer spring installed. I have a polished butter handle bolt "knob" on the bolt which I think looks great on the rifle.

Arkel23 I was more referring to the rifle, not the cartridge. With Managed Recoil ammo I will not be doing too much estra damage, if any, on smaller deer, and can always switch to full power loads if the parameters of my hunt change.

I was just saying it wasn't a surprise either though, they might put a lock on this one since I'm talking to you on it Lol.

450 bushmaster

i wanted one of these uppers but can't find a steady supply of ammo. there is .50 beowulf at a local shop for like $50+ for 20 rounds, so i used my bushmaster m4 loaded with hornady 55gr tap. no action at all. also took my wasr-10 once and shot at a running deer with a broken leg. she hopped the fence and the end.

MHBushmaster, are you having other work done to your M98 bolt? Firing pin and spring replacement takes all of 5 minutes(just wondering why anyone would pay a gunsmith to do this) you could do it during a teardown and clean. Just curious.

hey Ditzman do you have the CDL-SF or the Sendero SF? And how does that combo work for you?I considered a 264

Remington Model 7 .308 (TN Whitetails)
Winchester Model 70 7mm Mag (Combo elk and mule deer hunt in Montana)
Knight .54 (WMA Hunt)

For buck season. Ruger M77 MII 300wm, 180g nosler partition.
Doe season, CZ 550 safari mag, 375 HnH 260g nosler acubond.

I love deer season its like a live practice run for elk season

Both my mom and grand mother use Remington 7400's in .243 for deer and elk. In all the years I have hunted with them I have never seen either of them had to do follow up shots on game. Guess it is more about shot placement than the size of the caliber.

This year I am going to use my AR 15 in 6.8spc I built, for both deer and elk.

I will be using a 12 ga with saboted slugs at one place, since its shotguns or ML only, a .30-06 at most of the others and bow at the rest.
