"Got .22 Long Rifle Ammo ?"

I Was in town last night and decided to see what was available, popped up the wal mart app on the phone and it said the local walmart had 22 ammo. I picked up (3) 333 packs for $17.48 each.

My local Walmart yesterday has all calibers including 100 rd 9mm for $27. The 550 ct. federal 22 had sold out earlier in the day but plenty of 100 CCI mini mag at $7.47/bx.

All had a three box limit. It has been that way (spotty) for over one year.
Eden Prairie, MN

I have not seen a single round of any type of 22 LR on a shelf in a big box store since Dec 2013. LGS have had some at high prices but WM, Academy, Dick's, Cabela's or Gander have never had any when I was in. ll of my purchases since probably last October have been online.

So... now there's no interest in buying my .22LR for fifteen cents per rd plus actual shipping cost?? It's all good stuff and can be shipped immediately. What's changed?? :)

Of course I have some. Not much and I seldom shoot much 22 anymore.

I now have less .22lr. I sold 8 500-550 round bulk boxes/bricks (4,200 rounds total) for $450 locally today. They sold very quickly, I'm sure I could have received more for them. 10.7 cents per round.

Just keep an eye out, I bought 5000 rounds of American Eagle for $223 shipped from Midway USA. It comes in stock a couple times a week, you just need to be on their notification list and get the email when they send it.

I'm on a couple 'notification lists' and get notified a couple times a week. Biggest problem is the limits and shipping, shipping will kill you on one box or brick of ammo. Have several cases on backorder, anywhere from 'past due' to expected 11/14. I know the CMP has 9000 cases with customer backorders...(45,000,000 rds ! ) I don't see things getting better THIS YEAR. :(

Unfortunatly there is little downside to the resellers hoarding it, they're making a 200 to 300% profit on every one they sell now they'll never have to take much of a loss.
Look at it this way they only need to sell 4 bricks out of a case at $50 to pay for a $200 case of ammo they have 0 invested in their remaining stock when the prices come back down they can sell it for $15 a brick it's all profit at that point.

BTW I got plenty to last til my backorders come in:neener:

I've taken the network approach to this. I have about 8 friends who hit the ammo stores regularly. If one of them finds something that I've told them I'm looking for (.22LR or otherwise), they text me. If I see something that one of them needs, I text them.

You have your name calling wrong.

You aren't a "hoarder" if you are reselling

:D:D:D

But what if we "dump" our .22 LR after holding for several years and are now tired of lack of availability?

I haven't bought to re-sell but I'm sick of the .22 LR shortage. If I can't replace what I shoot for a reasonable/fair price then why should I keep it? I posted earlier that I probably have less than 6K rds of .22 LR "hoarded" (bought when it was EASY to find) but now that I've looked... it's more like 14K rds. I should dump it all and buy the .458 SOCOM AR upper I want plus all the reloading gear I need plus reloading supplies.:)

EDIT: Heck, if I sell all the .22 WMR and few remaining .17 HMR I "hoarded" years ago then I could have a .300 BO upper and all the sundries too.:D

The ones that are causing the average joe a problem are both thet hoard all the ammo thet can find at regular prices and resell it at high prices.
If people will just stop buying bricks for $65 at the pawn shop for a week or three the pawn shop owner will quit stopping at walmart every morning and buying them for $20.

I think the majority of the problem is uninformed and new shooters, there's no other reason why sites like ammo supply warehouse could possibly sell out of the 5000rd cases of armscor 22lr for 649.00 a case and a new one I just found was this company selling a 5000rd case for 765.00 http://murphysammo.com/shop/index.php?id_product=33&controller=product the hoarders, the resellers and the gunshows ripoffs mean nothing as long as people pay these prices.
It's like the war on drugs , as long as you have a demand there's nothing they could ever do to stop the problem

Problem is $65 has become cheap for a brick of 22lr. BTW the stock market is down 265 points as I type this and 22lr ammo is still going up in price,

That is just not how it works. The problem is the empty shelves at the big box stores. They are empty because they are underpriced. If big box retailers would raise prices to match demand you would not see these obscene prices that you are referring too. The only reason people pay $65 or whatever for a box of .22 is because they cannot find it anywhere else.

But until the big box retailers raise prices to match demand these things will continue to happen. I am guessing this will linger for several years.
