BZZZZ wrong. If you vote for anti-gun politicians, you are by default anti-gun. The democratic party as a whole has made their stance very clear.

The term "gun nut" originally, back it the pre-WWII days and on into the 1970's or so, was used in a highly complimentary manner amoung firearms enthusiasts to describe a person who is very knowledgable and competant with firearms and who probably owned quite a few. If you referred to someone in those days as a "real gun nut", that was about the best thing you could say about him. Only in recent years has the term been siezed upon by the antigun crowd and used in a derogatory way. I think it is time we started reviving it in its original meaning.

So the guys over at DU in the firearms section, who are constantly challenging their fellow party members views and pushing them to re-evaluate their stance on impractical gun laws are antis?

The thing I find offensive is that your friend considers himself to be "liberal". Since when does the term liberal mean restricting things? Wouldn't someone who is truly liberal want there to be as many freedoms as possible? Call him what he is, a socialist. For some reason they get really offended by that, even though more times than not its accurate.

I see the term "gun nut" as a term for other gun nuts to use. You must be a gun nut to call someone a gun nut. Anti's are not permitted to use it.

I kind of like the idea of "Marksman", but I think it has a long way to go to catch on in common use.

Many years ago, I was reading a gun rag and noted the writer used the term "rifle crank" to describe himself and his cronies. I believe a rifle crank is a special type of gun nut, devoted to rifle loads, rifle accuracy and suchlike.

You know, the kind of folks who discuss turning case necks like it was a religious rite...

The point being that there are a lot of terms we use to describe ourselves, and they are not always easily seen as positive by those who are not members of the group. Maybe "Marksman" isn't such a bad idea.

Sure, but the 2A is black and white. Freedom is black and white. You are either free or you are not, there is no "middle ground". Until you realize that any infringement is unacceptable, you will not realize that the shades of grey just get darker and darker. Any grey is just black overpowering white. You don't get that, because you are a liberal. You think that the government should have control over my life. That's why you're all commies.
