Have you purchased anything gun related in the last three days?

I know they have advantages (when they work), but man, stories like these confirm my faith in sights that dont require batteries......
I don't rely on any firearm for self-defense which ONLY has optical sights, which needs them at normal self-defense engagement ranges.

I've got a dot sight on my AR, but it's co-witnessed with BUIS.

I just put a dot sight on a brand new semi-auto riot gun. At seven yards, I can just use the front sight if necessary.

All of my self-defense handguns have fixed or adjustable iron sights.

All of my bullseye target handguns are dot sight only.

I've honestly had pretty good luck with red-dots, when I don't expect perfection. It is what it is. Even my $30 cheapie is fine, just not what I want on this rifle. Just got a bum one this time around. Aside from the fuzziness, I could make it work if I really wanted.
Blurry dots are to be expected for cheap and with my eyes. They still work close up, but of course I'd demand better if I competed or was fighting in the field or something. And I haven't managed to break one yet.
That said, I'm pretty gentle on my equipment. And I refuse to own something I may consider important without some sort of iron sight on it as well.

Fifty rounds of Estate 12ga. 00 buck and a pound of Unique from Fin, Feather and Fur in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.

I'd have bought a hundred rounds, but they have a two box limit. As far as I can tell, that doesn't differentiate between five, ten and twenty fifty round boxes.

Another magazine for my Savage 110 Storm in .223 and a bulk pack of cleaning patches. REALLY enjoying shooting this rifle. It`s the only rifle I`ve ever owned ( always a shotgun guy ), just wish I had started rifle shooting earlier in life.

Two 16 oz cans of "non-aerosol" Ballistol.
Been a long time since I needed more.
Finally finished off the gallon can.

Midwayusa free shipping is costing me. Got 2 lee safety prime for over half off. Gonna try to prime on presses. Wasnt to the 49 for free so added a box of gold dot bullets for my 380 baby browning. Day before I purchased 9 and 45 gold dots and 3 Mtm storage boxes.

And I got my Midwest AK side-mount T1/T2 rail in, and woo am I happy.
Solid craftsmanship, puts my Sig Romeo at exactly the distance I had it mounted on the full rail where I liked it, it has enough free space on the back that I can remove the dust cover, and this is still the only mount I've found that sits low enough that I can actually co-witness the stock AK sights through the optic.
Full endorsement here.
