1966 M41.
The sound in the backround is me crying over those Broomhandles and Johnsons......Came across a 1962 ad for those Model 41s and its cheaper little cousin the model 46.. Wow those were expensive little rascals in the day.

Do you realize at the same time one can get an anti tank rifle for about the same cost..

Had this one on layaway for awhile, just picked it up today. '43 Remington 03A3
I prefer the look of the earlier '03s (of which I have several), but for a shooter, the A3 has way better sights. This one is likely unissued, (might be unfired!) has the two-groove barrel and came in a CMP hardcase, so Im guessing it was a CMP gun which has been in the back of somebodys closet for the last 20 years or so, which is about the time they ran out of Springfields.Looks nice

Hopefully Ill get a chance to ring it out Saturday.
Ill take some more pics tonight. What the hey are you trying to pull here, you did not put these "minor" details in the original posting... And now you are making wild claims about unissued and unfired with out additional porn photos for us to see.... Do I have to beg for a few more closer upper photos of this beauty.. Because I will...
OK the only a3 I have has been chopped up and is the sniper version... and 03's/a3s have never been big on my list (even thought it is really a Mauser under all that)
So educate me what does the 2 groove barrel mean and do for you???? And how are the sights better,??? mine does not even have a sight..
Ill take some more pics tonight.
The 2 groove barrels only have 2 sets of lands and grooves for rifling. They can be found on some A3s, most A4s, and some M1917s with Johnson barrels.
Although designed as a wartime expedient to speed barrel production, as it turned out they had no problem stabilizing M2 ball ammunition and there was no appreciable difference in accuracy between these and the regular rifling.
I just think its a neat feature which is somewhat specific to these particular guns.
The A3 sight are very similiar to an M1 carbine and use a peep aperture with micrometer-click adjustments for windage and spring-detents for elevation. The '03 uses an overly complicated and somewhat delicate rear ladder sight with a friction set screw for elevation and a worm gear (sans detents) for windage.
Theoretically, the earlier sight allows for infinite adjustment and more precision, but is nearly impossible to use properly under anything resembling combat conditions.
