Here Comes The Flood Of New Gun Legislation

Here we go AGAIN in Illinois!

SB3659 contains language for both a 'universal background check' (even though it does exclude gun shows) as well as an assault weapon and 50 cal ban.

Also new from Ohio today SB338 would ease some restrictions on concealed carry permits as well as make provisions for non-residents that work within the state and military personnel.

I'll be a monkey's uncle. They're actually CREATING a "gun show loophole" for Illinois.

California AB1014 - the 'gun violence restraining order' has been introduced - not good at all

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-California-Gun-Law-AB1014/State-Law/16427

Massachusetts H4121 - the bill we have all been hearing about, has been introduced. This bill would make Massachusetts gun laws as draconian as NY or California. It's long but you should take the time to read through it.

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Massachusetts-Gun-Law-H4121/State-Law/16426

Massachusetts S2160 is the yearly appropriations bill, along with new regulations for buying and owning 'self-defense spray'

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Massachusetts-Gun-Law-S2160/State-Law/16434

At least one person in NJ gets the fact they have draconian gun laws!

Assemblyman Michael Carroll has introduced A3284 which would repeal almost every anti-gun law on the books in NJ. (See the bottom of the bill text for the list of repeals)

Doesn't have a chance of passing right now but you have to give the man credit for trying.

Also new for PA today is the yearly budget bill.

So why do we care about a budget bill, especially when it doesn't even have any text yet?

We have inside information about this bill and trust me you are going to want to ad this to your watch list because this bill is going to get VERY interesting for PA people interested in gun rights AND people that are sick and tired of the nonsense Attorney General Kane has been pulling!

What is all the more infuriating, is that after the VA Tech incident, the "Fix NICS checks act" was sponsored in congress, supported by the NRA, and signed by George W Bush. In it, the states were SUPPOSED to review their processes and start reporting individuals with dangerous mental health issues to a database where the present NICS check has access to prevent the commercial sale of firearms to thos individuals. Since then, ALMOST NOTHING has changed by the states, with many of those who were non compliant continuing to be so, or reporting less than a handful of names over several years.
Yet, this Feinstein bill is about imposing a "get your neighbor, search and seize" warrant that will likely be misused by angry ex's and spiteful neighbors on people who may have done nothing wrong, but are then forced to incur expenses and uncompensated lost time from work to get their property back. JMO...

As far as the NY 50-cal ban - so this really would also ban a fancy safari rifle/double rifle in 505 Gibbs, or 600NE, or any of those grand old cartridges, unless the rifle was old enough to be considered exempt by the text of this law, but I bet any exemptions wouldn't last long.

And what about the S&W 500 Magnum? It's a 50 cal, centerfire cartridge..

Very well informed and you are 100% correct ... the NICS improvement act was passed and signed by GW Bush but NEVER funded .. hell even Bloomberg bitches about it.

So Congress passed this act, never funded it and now they want millions more to throw at a problem that should have been fixed years ago ... go figure

New Today:

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Michigan-Gun-Law-HB5688/State-Law/16494

Michigan HB5689 would change 1927 PA 372 to incorporate terminology about firearm restraining orders, along with several other changes

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Michigan-Gun-Law-HB5689/State-Law/16495

New York S07822 makes it a crime to not lock up weapons in some form of safe within your home

Congrats to Florida for passing some common sense legislation yesterday:

H0089 prevents people from being charged if the threaten to use deadly force if they qualify under chapter 776

S0424 Stops discrimination by insurance companies towards gun owners

H7029 AKA the 'pop tart law' provides that simulating a gun, or wearing gun related clothing is NOT ground for discipline

H0523 provides for tax collectors approved by the state to issue concealed carry permits

H0525 protects concealed carry holders personal information from release to the public or media

New house water and energy appropriations bill contains language that would allow legal gun owners to carry on any 'project covered under section 327.0 of title 1236, Code of Federal Regulations'

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Federal-Gun-Legislation-HB4923/Federal-Law/563

Just a resolution but they are trying to support June 21 as national ASK day (asking saves kids) which is meant to push parents into asking all their kids friends if they have guns in their house (and I then assume not allowing their kids to go to those houses that have guns)

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Federal-Gun-Legislation-HCR102/Federal-Law/564

New North Carolina bill would remove restrictions on certain public safety employees for concealed carry while increasing penalties for illegal concealed carry

Never quite seen such a hideous anti-gun bill as this one. Mass H4278 literally has about everything possible in an anti-gun bill, from high cap mag bans, no transfer of any weapon without a valid firearm identification card etc etc

http://amgoa.org/Proposed-Massachusetts-Gun-Law-H4278/State-Law/16573

Rhode Island H7939 has been signed by the governor. This new law sets up a 'relief from disqualifiers board' so that those disqualified from owning firearms can petition the board to have those disqualifiers removed.

Obama executive order banning the importation of Russian AK's. Russia and Ukraine's drama that has nothing to do with the American population is now affecting us.

Opportunistic gun control.

Massachusetts people ... you need to get on the phone NOW to your legislators and tell them to vote against H4376.

They have added back in the language giving local law enforcement discretion over who gets an FID card. That language had been stripped up but has been added back in.

The bill should come up for a vote today because it is the last day of the session.

Call now!
