If You Could Have Only One Carry Piece For SD What Would It Be?

SIG Sauer P365. A gun I had gotten a few years ago for concealment in the hot Texas summers and it has become my main carry gun, 15 round mag in winter, 12 round mag in summer. It conceals well, is light and slim and shoots pretty well and I do not worry about scratching it up.

Tough call. I have been shooting Glock 48, 43X, and Hellcat Pro. I keep coming back to my Gen 4 Glock 19 with an Apex trigger kit. I want more rounds through the Hellcat Pro. Could see it replacing the 19 at some point. Smaller, slimmer, still 15 + 1.

Note this is for carry guns. One handgun would be S&W M28.

Glock 26.

It's a the smallest gun I have that still shoots like a larger gun. I use the 12 round mags so it's pretty close to a 19 in capacity and it takes all the larger mags from the full size guns.

It's light, easy to carry and doesn't wiggle in my hand like the super thin micro 9's. Of course I'm glad that in real life I'm not limited to just one choice.

Glock slimline G36 .45 ACP

Would be interesting if ShieldArms came out with a metal magazine that held a few more rounds, but that would also make the pistol heavier, and at around 27 oz. loaded 6+1, it is a very nice carry.

The Hyve +1 extension with extra cartridge that @EMC45 mentions adds 2 ounces to the G36. I bought a couple complete magazines from Hyve thanks to his recommendation.

It's kind of the OP to mention me. :)

1) LCR in 38 special - the grips are getting worn smooth in places

2) LCPII in 380 - sometimes you can only carry something really small

3) CA Bulldog in 44 special - for larger overalls pockets or coat pockets (better fit)

Strongly prefer the LCR, carry the LCP rarely when I "have to", and that would cover 99% of my use.

Carried the Bulldog when limited to overalls for a while, and really liked it, but I don't carrying it often anymore.

Have a buddy that has several of the old Pearce +1 mag extensions.

For me, as a dedicated IWB/CCW, the factory mags work fine, and a flush, 5-round factory mag would be awesome.

The factory mags have internal rails in them, to make them single stack.

Seems to me that one could make a staggered metal mag, sans rails, and have a flush 6 - 7 round, or 7 - 8 round OEM length.

The OP said nothing about concealed carry, only carry. As such I wouldn't dream of limiting myself to a small, concealable piece. I'd be torn between one of my 4" Model 10's and my old Colt Series 70 45 ACP.

I carry a belt knife every day, but it never occurs to me to take a picture of it. Sorry.

Today it would be what I EDC for a couple years now: P365XL. Apart from being excellent as is, the FCU can be the heart of a pocket pistol (P365 grip) or a belt carry (MACRO). Hard choice between it and a G26.

I also find myself adding a 442 or 642 in pocket, sometimes an LCP MAX.

One would think Mec-Gar could do it, but the G36 seems to be a bit of a pariah in most of the gun world.

It is definitely counter-culture.

A Glock - that isn't.

Heresy!

Like interchangeable mags - was the end-all-be-all of Self Defense weaponry.

Their loss.

My first choice is my SP101 carried appendix in a surprisingly durable suede clip holster.
Totally concealed and comfortable with a spurless hammer.

My second choice for my "high capacity" (please note I said "my")
Is an EMP 9 in a summer comfort at 4o'clock.
Light and comfortable, easy to draw and get on target.
Love this little 9mm.
