If You Could Have Only One Carry Piece For SD What Would It Be?

This is like asking which one of your children will you keep

My smart choice would be my Kimber R7. With 11 & 13 rounds of 9mm in a compact size. But I would go with something else.

My 442 38+p is a favorite, but I would go with something else.

My XDM compact 45acp with 9 & 13 round magazines. That's my choice and sticking with it. Small enough to pocket carry. With +p hardcast it can handle wilderness defense. With 230 grain hollow points it will do in SD situations.
If I had a compact 10mm, I may need to change.

For me it'd be a 1911 A1, Stainless. I wore one concealed as a pallbearer and no one knew, unless they figured out what that black thing on my belt was. Tucked in shirt, with a desantis duo carry II holster. I carried it many places concealed with an untucked shirt. My buddy asked me once when we were running around gun store hopping "Are you packing?" Yes... lifted my shirt to show him. I was concealing so well that he had been trying to see my bulge and couldn't. Shame I had to sell that gun a while back.

G43X MOS. Doesn't print and carries perfect for appendix. Zero anguish of size or round count. And to me concealed also means concealed from showing the outlines of anything resembling a gun too.

Actually, I do only have 1 carry piece... or, in all honesty, about 5 versions of the same platform... the Kahr 9mm C/P-series pistol. There are a number of reasons for this, I've explain my reasons in prior threads, but let's just call it 'simplicity,' or perhaps 'uniformity.' My drill sergeant told me in no uncertain terms that "Uniformity is the key to success!" ...and that axiom seems to do well with my choice of a CCW.

I have always found Kahr pistols to be pretty handsome looking firearms...

Well, if I had to pick one, for carry only, forever more, and could own no others for any purpose, It'd be a Smith M66 with a 4" bbl. (It'd do for most any other purpose as well and the 4" bbl/square frame is concealable if I continue to carry OWB only.

If the choice is for carry only, once and forever and I can have a cpl others for specialty uses, it'd be a Smith M-60 with a 3" bbl......again, I'm an OWB only guy and have no problem concealing it under anything other than a wife-beater t-shirt and speedos ensemble!

YMMv and wardrobe choices probably vary....Best Regards, Rod

When I saw this thread I assumed everything but full sized single actions would be mentioned. But I was wrong, the single actions made the list.
For me, I have 2 guns I depend on. At home, a S&W Shield Plus 9mm. On the road, I have a Gen 1 Shield in 40S&W. They have a similar feel to them so, muscle memory isn't an issue. The 40 isn't that much of a difference to throw me off on the trigger pull. Both are reliable and accurate.
