Let's see the .22 rifles that make you smile

I think all my .22's make me smile, just in different ways. Paps old New Haven auto brings back a lot of happy memories. My single shot 514 reminds me a lot of my youth, chasing squirrels with an old worn-out rifle and a handful of .22 shorts. My SA-22 evokes visions of woods rambles of days gone by, it being one of my favorite rambling guns. When I pick up my old 572 Fieldmaster, I always remember one particularly good shot on a groundhog, that was further than the 2.5x Weaver scope should've been capable of. I could go on and on, but those few stick out most.

Any Masons here?

That's a beautiful rifle, brother. Do you ever shoot it, or is it for display only?

I have an ancient octagonal barrel Remington pump. It was put away wet somewhere, so one side is pitted and ugly. Wood is all there, but old and stained. I still love to shoot it. Evey time I get it out it makes me smile. There is no telling how many stories it could tell if it could talk :)

Here are three more of my favorites. All are 99% guns so i don't shoot them much. The Model 60 Winchester is a factory screw-up, it is marked S. L. and LR......but it is a smoothbore. The middle gun is a Rem. 514 and the other one is a Mod. 34

How is that a screw-up? IIRC, smoothbore gallery guns were fairly common in the Depression.

Very common. Almost always 22 short.
I think It is a screw up because the model 60 was never offered in a smoothbore configuration. Also, the barrel is marked for S,L,and LR. Furthermore, it is uncrowned and looks like the end of the barrel was cutoff with a hacksaw. Don't know what's up with that. I got it at a gun show for $100 dollars. It is in flawless near 100% condition. If I had a hanging tag and a box to put it in I would call it "new in box."

I asked the seller why it was so cheap and he responded; "Dad bought it a long time ago and couldn't hit a thing with it. He got another rifle and told me to sell this one."
