Looks like Phoenix (actually Chandler) is getting a Scheels - What do I need to know?

Sounds like a great store. Doubt we will get one in Florida
We do not have any stores like this around me. Only thing is a Bass Pro but it is still not real close. They have nothing I want anyway. Good fishing stuff though

I first found out about them in the early 90's when a buddy of mine moved up to Sioux Falls----back then when they had something sitting for a certain amount of time, they would deeply discount it--a lot of times below cost---just to get it moving and clear out space for something else---I got some really good deals back then-----they still do it to a point but not the screaming deals back then. The Omaha store has been here since 2006 or so --around 2000 for the Lincoln store.

There's a Cabela's less than a mile away and I rarely go in there since Bass Pro took them over.

Exactly.
About 3 years ago when I started getting more interested in BP, I remembered Cabela's bargain cave, so I stopped by the local one and looked around for it. Nowhere to be found. When I asked an employee about it he said Bass Pro's took it out, and he basically said a lot of Sh**y change's when they took over.
Scheels has been in ND since I think about the 80's. It's always been my go to shop, except when I discovered online shopping for surplus guns in the 2000's. More selection and I ordered what I wanted, and numerous one's!
I get to Scheels at least once a month. Cabela's 1-2 time's a year.

They built a Scheels about 5 miles from my house, complete with a Ferris Wheel that my granddaughter loves to ride. I have bought a rifle, a couple of red dot sights, and reloading supplies along with some regular merchandise. It is a pricey store but the quality of everything is first rate and the employees seem to be very happy which makes it a better experience when shopping.

I, too, have noticed the staff mood at Scheel's seems much better than Cabela's, especially since BP took over. They are always happy to help.

I'm a midwesterner at heart and love many of our regional chains. My city has four Hy-Vee grocery stores, a dozen Kwik Trip gas stations, and after we got Scheels and a Chick-fil-A in the last six years, I have all I need. They're the best big box gun store you can get. I like Scheels and Hy-Vee for the same reasons, they're clean, have decent sales and helpful employees who are also the owners of the corporation, and have a wide selection. Both of them have pretty Midwestern sorts of values and stay in their lanes in terms of politics and culture.
