Here's a link to one of several stories about a Mason, TX, gun dealer & CHL instructor whose radio ad has gone viral. He says he won't provide instruction to Muslims or people who voted for Obama.

I personally don't care whether the state DPS revokes his license or not, if it was up to me, I'd leave him alone. The story did start me thinking about the issues it raises. I bet if you asked Mr. Keller he'd say he's a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment. I am too, which makes me wonder if it's correct to say the 2nd Amendment doesn't extend to people who don't share my religion or political views. As with the 1st Amendment, it's only truly sustained when extremely unpopular speech is protected. In other words, if you're a "purist," shouldn't everyone have the right to bear arms and let the chips fall where they may?

What a bigoted idiot. That's just the type of publicity the shooting public needs.:banghead:
I am a liberal, and my political beliefs afford me the opportunity to do a tremendous amount of pro 2nd amendment work. Other liberal minded friends are certainly not swayed by some redneck shouting about gun rights, but when it is "one of their own" the message is much more readily recieved. The last thing a pro gun movement needs is hate filled people like this guy deepening the divide between gun owners, and potential gun owners. Way to go dude.:fire: I hope he goes out of business and is forced to live on welfare.

And it's stupid, ignorant, and racist people like this man who get us into trouble.....

He is, in essence, showing that he is against the 2nd amendment......

Flynt, he isn't saying that at all. He's saying that he won't teach them. They can presumably take the class from someone else if they want to take it.The Obama voter thing is clearly a joke (a jab), and I don't know that I'd want to be the guy who legally armed the next Jihadist either. How do ya reckon the Minnesota flight school feels after having trained a 911 terrorist to fly a passenger jet?

Oh, good, that's exactly what I want. A walking, talking example of the sort of person who reinforces the stereotype that all gun owners are ignorant, hateful bigots.

Do you have any idea the number of Muslims in the US military right now? Go ahead and call them Jihadists and see where that gets you.

Although I dont agree with the guy I want you to please read the last two paragraphs again.
Who is up in arms about that womans stereotype statement??

Edit to add..The "Guy" was really a "She".

He isnt a racist. Neither Liberalism nor Islam represent a race. Its interesting you jumped straight to that conclusion though.

This man is simply refusing to teach people he disagrees with. Maybe he sees people who vote for anti-gun polititicians as someone he doesnt want to teach because of thier hypocrisy. Personally I think every man has a right to exercise his own morals and a right to refuse service to anyone.

I guess you guys here think that he should be FORCED to do business with them? Interesting really as I have already seen two ammendments mentioned. I guess he shouldnt have any rights himself?

He isnt preventing anyone from exercising thier second ammendment rights, he is simply saying he wont help them.

Guys like that can certainly have there own twisted opinions, but keep it to yourself and don't perpetuate that rediculous stereotype for the rest of the decent, grown up gun owning community.

The problem with this is that if you make a joke about how Muslims are violent, they will be offended, and the result is a couple of offendees will make threats. Thus, those couple of people (regardless of how many did not make violent threats), perpetuate the stereotype. Those couple of people are the idiots, if you ask me. If they would turn the other cheek, maybe the stereotype would go away. Please note that I'm not picking on Muslims in general, but specifically those who react to jokes by saying "if you call me violent I will kill you in protest." Uh...that is violent.

I can kind of see his point, though. My local range is Bullseye Shooter in Tacoma, the range from which the DC sniper got his gun. Since then, they have had to split the range and the store entirely from each other. If you call the range and are asking questions of the store, pretty much all they can say is "here's the number for the store, we have nothing to do with them." Other places have the range and the store together, because they don't have the history behind it.

Here's the way I see it: this guy shot himself in the foot. Limit your clients, limit your income.

Actually you made this up, it didn't happen..pure speculation. One could also speculate that this guy would threaten to kill any liberal or Muslim that showed up at the class.

The BOR applies to all citizens. If he decides to take this approach he could end up not having his FFL renewed on the basis of religious discrimination.

No, a FFL can discriminate. Local's could try to revoke his bus license, but that would probably be an uphill battle.

Truly being an American means tolerance, and I'll bet this guy hypocritically waves the American flag., That is the value this country was founded upon, not demonizing citizens with differing political or religious beliefs. That is exactly the type of intolerance that was fled. It's funny how a lot of hard right wing types that claim to be pro American have such anti American oppressive views. ANti immigration, anit liberal, anti Muslim, the hypocritical list goes on.

Still no comments about the muslim woman's last two paragraphs??
I guess everyone is so gung ho explaining what a bigot this old guy is that got right past them.

I wish liberals would keep their twisted opinions to themselves.

Pot/kettle.

She is certainly welcome to her opinion, and that doesn't detract from the fact that he is a bigot. Not liking guns or using them is fine. She isn't singling anyone out, or acting in an otherwise rascist or bigoted manner, just expressing an opinion on firearm ownership.

If I was a flight instructor & I refused to train a Muslim to fly a passenger
plane-- how many of you people think I should lose my license---remember I am discriminating against a person---American citizen??

^THat is sickening. The US military estimates 4000-12000 Muslims in the US military right now. I'll bet some know how to fly.

Well your a mighty tolerant fellow HGUNHTER.
Her comments seemed pretty bigoted to gun owners in general.
Oh well carry on.

Thank You, you beat me to it!

Actually she said she was against promoting guns as they are used for killing. No mention of discrimanating services or otherwise to gun owners.

Here's the legal view then for all of y'all that think it's ok to be a bigot.

The Federal Civil Rights Act guarantees all people the right to "full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, and accommodations of any place of public accommodation, without discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color, religion, or national origin."
Businesses are primarily places of public accommodation. That means they are in business to accommodate the needs of the public. They actively invite and seek the patronage of the public and therefore are subject to the same anti-discrimination laws that protect workers seeking employment or promotion.
That's your view on it guy.
Certainly not mine.
I'd love to hear your's.
