Anyone know any places with good stock of Powder/Primers and parts/supplies around Hammond, LA area ? covington etc.etc. ? LA gun and Reloading supply in Baton Rouge is closing and half the places way down in metarie either closed or quit carrying most the stuff I want :-x didn't like driving that far anyway. since it's about 95min drive and don't get home from work until 5ish

we have basspro in denham springs but they stock very little... mostly like using Vhitavuori Powders and redding dies. they only have a scarce selection of hodgdon and hornady dies and parts. While I often use varget I Don't need any right now... I need Large Rifle Primers and powders.

maybe you can talk with the mgr or owner of the smaller places and when they place their next powder order they can order the specific powders you are wanting? When these places buy powders they are buying from distributors that stock every powder.

powdervalleyinc.com is a very good place...even with the hazmat a lot of times it's cheaper

the problem is I can't find any smaller places, I'm sure they are all over but they aren't listed anywhere easily findable like yellowpages etc.

Too many people let that "hazmat" fee scare them from purchasing online.

Here where I live, Bench Rest Primers as an example are selling for $60 plus per box of 1,000. I can buy them for well under $40/1,000 online. That savings alone on one box just about wipes out the hazmat fee. I place an order once per year for all the powder I expect to shoot, along with the primers I will need. Savings are well into the hundreds of dollars for me. Even save on Sales Tax which paid the freight and left a lot of $$ left over.

Local shops are getting out of the business of selling powder because of the Online Retailers and the Big Box Stores.

Won't be long that reloaders will only be able to buy online or have to drive 100 miles or so to that "Big Box Retailer" that will be making a good profit.

Southern theres cabelas in gonzales and they have a decent selection. Rich's guns n coins in Baton Rouge has a small supply (not that great though but a few odds n ends cabelas doesnt have) jim's firearms in baton rouge off of siegen has a few things as well (once again a small selection)

Bayoushooter.com has a few site sponsors that sell reloading supplies.
