Should they get an exception?

As a current LEO, I don't see the need to limit my number of rounds, or the options at my disposal.

As a husband & a father, I feel my family should have access to everything I have, because I cannot be there 24/7.

What I am saying is that normal people should not have limits on magazines.

P.S.- I carry 8 round magazines on duty. Gotta love having a 1911!

The "some animals are more equal than others" arguement is a big one. Out of boredom (or some sentimental weirdness) I read Animal Farm a few weeks ago. It made me sick to my stomach. I had last read it in elementary school many years ago and had little understanding of what it was about. I do remember hating the pigs with a passion, despising the dogs for protecting the pigs, and feeling like the rest of the animals got screwed. That is what a 4 grader reads into that little story. When my nephew read it a few years ago he felt the same way, strange right? Even as children we know that right is right and wrong is wrong, Period.

The things that these polititians do is all about dividing us, turning us on each other. If we are infighting we aren't fighting the polititians. If you have doubts about that then I'm sorry, you are a fool. Give special priviledges to 10 out of 100 citizens and you will have the other 90 hating those ten. It works with adults as well as children. Why do the 90 hate the 10? It's wrong, that's why.

All men are created equal! It doesn't say equal except for law enforcement, or governors, or senators, or congressmen, and on to the very top. So when someone says "our group should be exempt to laws everyone else has to follow", it's because they think that they are above the rest of us lowly citizens. Why should we be hindered? Will the guy breaking into my house only use a 7 round magazine? Will you get to my house in time to save my family? Honest answers to those questions will destroy any "you don't need that" type of arguement.

LEO's are like every other person in the U.S. Some are decent people as most people are. Some are like those other people who think they are special or "more equal" than everyone else. We need to be a united front, we can't do that until everyone realizes we are all "equally equal".

LEO's are citizens, plain and simple. The enemies they face are no different than what the rest of the law-abiding public face.

My wife's uncle who was a corrections officer in Baltimore off-duty had a J-frame .38 snub revolver and a Marlin bolt action 12ga (3 shot), and felt adequately armed for home and travel defense.

The open post was Should police get an exemption from gun control laws, including AWB magazine limits. I also take this to mean should police or military experience exempt one from training requirements for private carry permits.

Civilian self-defense is different from military and police duty in regards to self defense law and court precedents versus police deadly force police and military rules of engagement. Where class on self-defense law is required to get a permit to carry, it should apply to every one.

I don't agree with AWB for anyone, military, police or civilian. I tend to agree with the retired generals' amicus curia that the 2A protects two rights: a collective right to train for military service and an individual right to keep and bear arms for all lawful purposes (including self-defense, hunting, curio collection and civilian marksmanship training. Which means the right of all person eligible for military service (and their parents or guarduans) to own and train with current military small arms of the militaries of our nation, our allies and our potential enemies.

The point should be, there should be no AWB for anyone regardless of whether they are police or "civilian".
