Waiting Time for Suppressor Approval?

eForm4 Trust
Submitted via LGS and Silencer Shop
4 August 2022.

Approved 25 April 2023
250 days.
I'm so glad that I didn't see this post as I would've been quite disappointed. However, I saw it today while seeking to update my situation.

Today is truly a holiday...eForm4 Trust Submitted via LGS and Silencer Shop 15 July 2022; Approved 2 May 2023. It wouldn't have made a difference to have received it last week, as I had a medical procedure and needed 4 days to recover. Good to go now, so looking forward to putting my Trash Panda through the ropes.

There seems to be a consistent(?) 10 months approval timeline for eForm4, which is disheartening and encouraging at the same time. Had my expectations been to expect a year, and I got it in 10 months, I’d be jazzed. However, I was set up to expect much quicker approvals on eForms, and there does seem to be a few miracle short time approvals.

Nonetheless, I think I’ll put in another buy, to ensure I get my “AR9” covered, which would also work on my 350 Legend. If I get it submitted by mid-July, I’ll have late April targeted on my calendar. And if Caesar wants to stamp it sooner, all the better.

Got an email from the ATF on Saturday, not sure what to make of it, headed down to my gun store to get some clarification.
Needless to say, I have my Rugged Obsession 45 in hand.
Unfortunately, am on a work trip and won't be home til Friday.

Ordered back in late August 2022.

I just received approval of an E Form 4 filed on a trust. 290 days through silencershop.com

Rugged Obsidian 9. Finally got to spend some range time with the CMMG radially delayed 9mm upper and let me tell you, it was worth the wait. My biggest NFA item mistake was waiting so long to get the process started on this can. I never shot the 9mm because I only bought it to shoot suppressed so it sat neglected in the safe for a long time. I think I had it for two years before I even bought the can.

I had always been enamored with the MP5SD but it was always financially unrealistic. Suppressed 9mm PCC is as much fun as you think it might be. I'm going to shoot the hell out of this thing this summer.

I am in a little disbelief right now. I submitted 4 eForms on May 19, 2023 and received approval on June 19th 2023, 41 calendar days and 28 working days later, for all 4 suppressors. My shop said they have never seen anything like that in the past. I still have one more in jail through Silencer Central, but who care I just received approval for 4 in less than 6 weeks.

I received my first 2023 eForm 4 submission for a customer yesterday.

Certified/Submitted 1/9/2023
Approved 7/11/2023

No idea why his was approved this quick. I have 50-60 other eForms older than his.

Silencer shop website says current form 4 trusts are taking from 4 days to 8 months. Would you say that's accurate? Just wondering if 8 months is the real maximum wait. I'm currently 7 months in.

There is no maximum wait. I still have five that are over fourteen months.
I'm getting mostly November submissions right now.

Interesting. Seems hard to believe that they wouldn't have at least a few very slow approvals as well.

I have purchased 3 from Silencer Central, all Eform 4
First one was almost 10 months.
Second one I purchased early Nov '23, still in Purgatory. I expect to see it sometime in August or September.
Third one I purchased April '23. I expect it sometime in early '24, maybe January or February.

I expect 9-10 months or so wait time.

Back when I worked in nuke plants, any background check that I needed for anything turned around quickly. My license to carry renewel would be done in five days instead of thirty like everyone else's. Even my wife's because she got an extensive check done on her as well since we were married. Now I wish I was still working the plants. But then again, maybe it would take longer due to nuclear work, lol!

Submitted 5/3/2023 for an Alaskan360.

Still waiting.

However, I was able to use it during a range trip. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Re: suppressors, I think I'm one and done.

1 year and 20 days. Paper. I bought a Rem. 700 .308 with a 20” threaded barrel some years ago, never considering a suppressor, just wanted a short, handy rifle. While looking for primers at a local shop, I asked about the things and within the hour, started down that long road. They made no promises as to wait times other than that they expected them to be long.

On my phone is an app, NIOSH sound level meter which says it gives a 30-32 decibel reduction. We live (literally) in the midst of nowhere and have enough land to have a small range on it. Before the suppressor, wife says she could hear the shots from the house, now she cannot. I have loaded a few sub-sonic rounds which make about as much or a little more noise as an air rifle but I don't think they are particularity useful. If it were to be done over, with what I've learned, I would elect not to. I still would not shoot full power without hearing protection, and there is no one near us who is within earshot. Each person should fully consider their own situation and needs carefully, as the money is as long as the wait. And now the rifle is long too!

Part of the urge to buy the thing was that it's something the government would rather I not have. Unless of course Cesar gets his cut. Good thing for us he doesn't kept up with inflation and charge accordingly.

I suppose if there is a reasonable use for them it would be defensive in-home so as not to go immediately deaf should a shot become necessary.

The stamp is pretty. Does anyone know, since that if I go off property with the thing I must carry a copy of the paperwork with me, if a picture on the phone (right next to the app:thumbup:) would be an acceptable copy? I don't even carry paper money anymore.

This is not to discourage anyone who is still thinking about them. I'm sure it won't be my last mistake.

I found my experience and thinking to be eerily similar to yours.

I picked up three (3) suppressors (eForm4 - TRUST) that have been in jail for just under 11-weeks today. The same dealer has stuff submitted early this year that has not been approved and is still pending. I feel very lucky.
