What gun is in your nightstand?

In a digital safe in our bedroom:

GLOCK 17 Gen 3 with Trijicon sights, an M3 light and 3 full magazines of 115 gr JHP.

Llama Comanche .357 magnum revolver, 4" barrel with 2 speedloaders loaded with 125 gr JHP.

My good friend in the Army was on leave last month, and he was forced to shoot someone in self-defense. He is not as shook up about it as you might think(go figure,we were in Iraq for over a year) and he had to use his roomate's mossberg 500 12 ga. It was loaded with #4 shot 2 3/4 in. game loads. He had to shoot twice. At about 10 feet. One shot hit his shoulder, and one hit him somewhat center mass, about 3 in below the sternum. Not lethal. But it knocked the BG down, and paramedics saved his life. It was surprising to me that the 12 gauge at 10-12 feet left an entry wound the size of a golf ball. Maybe a little smaller. I was thinking it would be much bigger! And NONE of the shot went through the BG. It penetrated far enough to reach major vessels, and some organs, but didn't shoot clean through. He will need to have a colonostomy bag for life now, at least that'[s what the local police said. Scary. All over a misunderstanding involving money, the BG apparently didn't know that the guy who owed him money had moved out 3 weeks before. He was armed. And my friend had no charges filed on him. Yet, anyway. The feds said he can expect a civil suit, and some of the local LEO's told him that he should have "sealed the deal" given the BG's criminal history....

Beretta px4, saiga 12 loaded mag on nightstand, gun in closet 3 feet away. LED Headlamp... need to get mountable light.

Seems right that my first post to such a great forum should be to such a long running one...In a biometric Inprint Pistol Vault I currently keep one S&W M&P 9mm w/18 rounds of 124gr. Federal HST for the wife and a S&W M&P .40 w/16 rounds of 165gr. Federal HST. Both have Insight MX6 light/laser combos zero'd for 7 yards.

USP Expert .40s&w with adjustable night sights condition 1 with Winchester Rangers, my Surefire E2E and my phone.

.44 Redhawk 3" barrel, 200 gr. Gold Dots. Mossberg on the other side of the bed.

3-inch DAO Chief's Special with baramis and a tyler T, Remington 158-gr LSWCHP+P; 3 spare HKS speedloaders. I know it all works pretty much on demand, and it's easy to stuff in the pocket–or waistband–of whatever is at hand. Surefire original recipe (I think it's the SP6?), motorola razor cell.

Of course, I can sub it out with other rigs, and there's also a 20-gauge double laying around close by as well, but the little J is the 'ol low maintenance standby... unless I really feel like bringing out the Rossi .44 special, or one of the K-frames, or...

What is in my nightstand now is not what I want to be there, but it's all I have. I usually keep my .357 SAA in the nightstand drawer for HD, with my trusty pocket knife on top next to the alarm clock. I want to get a DA .357 in a 4" barrel for HD, but I have to use what I have for now. The SAA is reliable and accurate and I'm a good enough shot with it to trust my life with it.

If those 6 shots won't do it, I'll need to revert back to my current carry piece which is a Bersa .380. At least it will provide me with 8 more shots should I need it.

some times its a glock 23 with gold sabers, some times its a random 1911 always loaded with wwb ball ammo, if i am traveling its a glock 26 with federal hydrashock or a 642 with golden sabers

I've made a change since my last post on this topic many moons ago.(1) .38 Taurus under pillow on other side of the bed (2) Kahr 9mm in drawer to my right (3) .38 special in wheelchair pocket for whiz or late night roaming and (4) wife has a .357 Model 65-3 "K" frame in side pocket of recliner she sleeps in.

Kimber Royal (no bloody II) with McCormick 8rd shooting star magazine. Surefire 6P right beside it. Also have a S&W 686 4" barrel at the foot of the bed.
