Reading the posts of all you youngsters on this board certainly makes me feel, well, old. Of course at 47 the road in front of me is shorter than the road behind me..........
46 but i don't look a day over 45. told my buddy just the other day, "man, i still feel the same as when i was 18." he says "oh yea? go try to pick up a 20 year old chick and then get back with me, gramps". i actually am a grandpa, although the wife calls me grumpa...

24 pushing 40 (or so it feels). Should've listened to all those folks when they told me "you're only 15, stay in school and worry about a job in a few years." But I couldn't be told. One decade later, I have mild carpel tunnel and arthritis in my hands and back pain that belongs to someone twice my age. I love turning wrenches, but it seems to accelerate considerably the wear and tear on one's body.
While I am not archaic enough to remember bird hunting in the schoolyard as some of our members do, I do remember using real-live pellet guns in grade school plays.

You don't even begin to qualify, yet.
My first handgun was an unissued Colt's 1917. Sure wish I still had it. I used to get a quarter to go to the movies. I could see the double feature with popcorn and candy or see the double feature and buy some .22 ammo.

My first two years of school I studied by the light of a coal oil lantern, then we got electricity, my parents warned us not to stare at the bare light bulb dangling from the ceiling, "it'll cause you to go blind" Paper shotgun hulls, out door toilets, old Sears and Roebucks catalogs were the "wipeing" paper
My first Browning Auto 5 light weight vent rib cost $129.50 and was paid for picking cotton at $3.50 a hundred pounds picked. Yep,,,those were the good ole days

When I turned 18, I bought my first centerfire rifle on clearance at Kmart. Paid $50 for a Marlin 336 that was new, but had been on display so they threw in a scope base. Bought a Weaver 4X scope at Cullum & Boren ( which became Oshmans) for $25 and it came with Weaver rings! Still have the combo, and it accounted for lots of game until I had to have something bigger and faster.

X,we're so far behind the times here in AR,you could've done half of those in the 90's.

Bought my first rifle in '64 a savage 99 in 243. Still have it ++++ a few more to keep it company. Just hate to see a lonely firearm. No telling what they'll do!

Glad to see a plethora of young shooters here. I'm 51, and purchased my first Colt Lawman MKIII revolver, Coltguard finish, for $140. Wish I had that one back! I'd recommend trusting yourself, respecting your elders, not giving a damn what others feel, and believing in your country.
You youngsters, choose your wonder-weapon. I'll back you off to 500 yards, and pick you off with my FAL, at my leisure.

Old enough to remember bread, milk, and ice delivered to your door in a horse and wagons. Old enough to remember German POWs sweeping streets in my home town (they were paid for it, btw, cigarette money). Old enough to remember neighbors sitting on their lawn chairs outside a appliance store to watch TV on a summer's night. I could go on but I'll spare y'all ...
Too old. 73. I remember walking to a one room school located so it was uphill going and uphill coming home. Started hunting at age 8 with a Hopkins & Allen 12ga. which was my grandfathers [still have it]. The older boys brought their guns to school in the fall and put them in the corner of the cloakroom. They would have a hunt going home [almost on the dead run, due to night milking] with the younger boys being their dogs. Also remember when you could buy the fanciest of the belgian built Browning Superposed O/U shotguns for $260.
Uhmmmm....Yeah I remember 'paper-hull' shotgun shells. Also remeber when the 'color code' for shotgun ammo first started being widely used...Red=12Ga, Purple=16Ga, Yellow=20Ga. The Peters line of shotgun ammo was blue, though.
Times when Sears/Montgomery Wards/Western Auto sold their own 'private label' brands of firearms. {First Mrs. Foggy's Dad had a Ted Williams shotgun}.
Took a shotgun to school for a presentation in my senior high speech class, and took it home that afternoon.
Walked from home carrying my Nylon 66, to outside the city limits to bust a hundred or so .22LR rounds. City Police drove by and waved. Police patrol sargeant gave me a ride home one day, and showed me his new Colt Trooper [Maybe a MK 3 ? ? not sure].
Bought my first autoloader shotgun from a friend, walked home with it over my shoulder. Again, City Police just drove past me and waved.
High priced .22LR ammo was 39 cents per box of 50, cheap stuff about 25 cents
