Been a little late to it, wanted to give some others a "shot" at it, but I'll fill the void I guess. Similar to the February one, with some minor tweaks.

https://bisonballistics.com/downloads/nra-sr-1-target-200-yard-reduced-for-100-yards This target or regulation SR-1 ALL CLASSES

Shooting for C1 and 2 will be field positions. No artificial support. Prone, sitting, elbows on bench etc. No portion of the rifle may touch any artificial support. C3 described in that section. Unlimited sighters, then 10 shots for record. Honor system, once you begin a target, that is a record target for the match. Even if it sucks, post it up with some good alibis, you're not the only one to shoot bad targets, and it gives the rest of us hope. Up to 2 submissions per class for the duration of the match. You may use the same or different rifles. You may shoot back to back, or weeks apart. Post class, score, and any pertinent or interesting information on a picture of your target.

Class 1: Military/sporting iron. Any intact military rifle or replica with issued combat or hunting sights. Sporting rifles with open "hunting" sights. Sporterized rifles with original or "hunting" iron sights. Standard AR types with open combat or A2, etc sights. Use of sling encouraged. 10 shots for record at 100 yards. Field positions, no rest.

Class2: Sporting/optics. Hunting rifles, Match rifles with diopters or Nat Match sights, walking varminters, tactical/optic ARs. Please no PRS guns, use your discretion. Maximum scope magnification to be 9x, 10 if you have a fixed 10. 10 shots for record at 100 yards. Sling use encouraged. Field positions, no rest.

Class 3 OPEN limited rest: 200 yards. Whatever you want to shoot. Optic unlimited. Rifle unlimited. Field expedient rest or Harris style bipod or similar field/tactical bipod allowed. No, mechanical rest or F-class "bi pod," sandbags may be used from a bench front and rear. 10 shots for record at 200 yards. Feel free to split onto multiple targets if your groups are obliterating the X ring. Lets see those one hole guns/loads I read about in the reloading section.

I'm in for class 1 & 2 - might even get brave and shoot class 3 but I don't have anything really in that class.... :(

Thanks for hosting.....

UMMM, under class 2 it addresses "PRS" guns - but I have no idea what that means - translation please....

PRS= precision rifle series. "Built" rifles designed for precision accuracy at distance. If you had one, you'd know it. Those, as well as bench rest and heavy varmint rigs should shoot in class 3.

Also note, this is not a shoot 'til you get it right match (except sighting shots which are unlimited). Once you decide to shoot your string...good, bad or ugly, that's your target.

OK, thanks for the explanation

I was clear on the string requirements, but it never hurts to repeat/expand the explanation for those who didn't get it first time...

btw I compared the download SR-1 target to my bought ones and the sizing is completely the same so they should print out fine for those that do

Definitely going to try and get some shots in for this. I haven't done any others prior to now but I finally got most of my stuff dialed in.

Before anyone posts results, I would like to suggest a change to C2. Can we bump this to 10x for those of us with fixed 10x scopes?

If so, I'm in for C1 (obviously), C2, but not C3 since my range ends at 100 yards.

Amendment. If you have a fixed 10, shoot it in C2. Scratching my head on why you'd have a fixed 10 with only 100 yards to work with though.

Yeah, I was going to put up an easy one with my M99 today for C1, but the rain hit here too. Didn't feel like laying in the mud when there was no incoming fire.

true enough, but when there was incoming the buttons on your shirt were too thick......

Last time I did it kneeling and sitting position, this time hell or high water I''m getting a lane at the range that has a movable bench so I can do prone.

Im going Class 1 prone for sure. On your rimfire challenge I did standing international style I believe they call it. But new op, new rules. I'm going to pull my bathroom rug out since it's so dang wet up here. Prone M1 Garand. If I can get the sights to cooperate.

OK, here's a target to start. Technically, it doesn't fit any of the categories, but I took a picture so I'm posting it anyway. Its nothing great, 95 1x.

Its my 200 yard rapid fire sitting target, shot on the standard SR target in last weekends club highpower match. Ten shots in 60 seconds with a mandatory reload. I looked through my spotting scope after the first 2 shots and saw that I was low. I decided to try and hold a little high and finish, but that didn't work too well.

Rifle was an AR-15 Service rifle, 4x scope, sitting with a sling.

Nice shooting. An optic service rifle would fit into Class-3, unlimited, but would have to fire the SR-1, half the size. Highlights the difficulty of that class.

If you trust your zeros, never make a elevation correction on the line in rapids. I don't even look at the scope. If you must, reset your position, which is the most common cause of elevation change with optics. That's usually my problem when I drop points in sitting rapid, I lose position either on the reload or towards the end of my string and leak them out low where my NPOA has shifted to. The ones I've cleaned, I paid careful attention to NPOA each shot.

Target and range might not have been correct, but the rifle class looks right to me?
Maybe. I was thinking more of the "tacticool" ARs with optics and ones set up for coyote or hog hunting in this class. Guess I'll leave the optic sighted Natl Match/EIC rifle up to individual shooter's discretion. It kind of bridges the gap between heavy varmint/F-class, etc and walking varmint rifles with the lower powered optic. If you're really damned good with it, probably a no. Personally, I will not shoot mine in C2.

I just know all of my “optic AR’s” I use for “walking varminters” shoot as small or smaller than my Service Rifles, and weigh more.

If I get a chance I'll hang a target at 200 and give it a try. The rifle is certainly capable.

Hopefully with the weekend coming we'll see some targets coming in. I still hope to put one up for C1 with the Savage 99 if it ever stops raining/sleeting/snowing. Should be very beatable, but then that rifle might surprise me. I'll wait for some really high scores to come in and use my best rifle for my second submission. At least the 50mph wind gusts went away for the day! Still waiting on my targets to arrive for the rimfire contest. Got some T22 zeroed in my critter getter that should put up a clean and give the Kiwi gent a run if I do my part.
