All these ideas on why it doesn't pay to increase manufacturing capacity are great, but with .22LR shortage going on it's 4th year...
I believe cci may have expanded some what as they seem to consistently become in stock at multiple places very regularly. only stuff I have ever seen on the shelf is cci and Remington the cci isn't setting around yet I see it more often than any thing and well the Remington is unfortunatly Remington I have passed it up even when I have had no 22lr at all.Don't think that there has been no increase in 22LR manufacturing capacity - I remember hearing Tom Gresham report that after studying the market for a while, some 22 makers have decided that when the panic buying ends, the "new normal" will be much higher than it was not that long ago
Today I went to the LGS. I was trying to buy some SIG mag, s he had said he had, he didn't have them ! As I was looking to see what he did have, I heard the clerk on the phone calling people to let them know he had .22LR. ammo in. Sure enough he did! First time in 9 months! Some Winchester power points HV at $18 per 100rd.s & 2 - 525 rd.bricks of Remington golden bullets at $58.00 ea. And people were coming into town to get it. This is insanity! Only the rich will be able to afford ammo at this priceing! The ammunition situation seems like backdoor gun control to most people that spoke about it.I didn't buy any as I still have some.
Either your shop or his supplier is gouging - they sell for half that from my LGS, less than half that at Walmart.525 rd.bricks of Remington golden bullets at $58.00

No. I've spoken to clerks at Cabela's, Academy, Walmart, and local gun shops, and unless everyone is telling me the same lie, they're simply NOT getting supply at the retail level; IF the manufacturers are making .22 at full capacity as they claim, then someone is intercepting it BEFORE it gets to retail level. Those who buy up the supply from the retailers, then demand a high price on the secondary market that they have created, and the foolish consumer buys.
