I view 1911 heads much similar to harley guys. The harley is a dated design. It is inferior in power and reliability to the modern designed liquid cooled bikes, but harley riders ignore these things and some how still claim their bike superior. The harleys are also heavy and very expensive, but i guess their look counts for something. All this seems just like 1911 guys to me. Not saying there is anything wrong with liking that sort of thing. 1911 guys are a big part of the shooting world as harley is of riding.
As for me ill shoot a glock and ride a speed triple.

There are box stock 1911s that are as accurate and reliable as their modern counterparts, there are no fast stock air cooled Harleys.

well power i guess would be better equated to capacity
we will give handling for accuracy

What kinda groups are you shooting with that glock of yours? LOL I bet you my 1911 is just as reliable and might even outshoot your glock.

i bet my glock cheaper holds more ammo more durable and needs no maintenence
you shooting is not gun thats your skill

Oh, great. Another Glock vs. 1911 thread. :barf:

I'd sit and watch this, but even my popcorn's gone stale.

You sure a gun never has anything to do with how you shoot? You do know there's also 1911s out there that can hold 15rds as well my friend. I love glocks too, but I dislike those who hate on other types of guns and think the ones they like are far superior. You might want to try and "grow up" buddy.

What do the PROs use? What sidearms was used by US troops for a century in battle conditions? Nuff said.

I like Glocks (have 3). And they are economical with plenty of capacity. And they are reliable. But for accuracy, nothing beats a 1911:

Your english teacher should have slapped you upside the head for not paying attention while being taught grammar.

As far as serious American target pistols go 1911s are the biggest single design, second to none. If going bang is all you need the glock is your gun. I however enjoy accurate firearms.

thats funny you enjoy accurate firearms but your handle is ak47
am i missing something here?

Oh boy... someone is going to be in for a surprise some day when they pull the bang switch and things don't work exactly as planned. Hope it is on the range instead of sometime vital.

Its alright guys. Leave him alone. He's still "new" to the firearms world and has yet to explore outside glocks without a bias mind. Give him some time and I bet in another year or two he'll be backing us up and laughing at himself with a similar thread lol.

Harleys have come a long long long way in reliability. I however still quite often read about $2000 or more custom 1911's not quite working right off the bat.

Harelys are big, slow compared tons of other bikes, turn like a log floating down a river, and are sexy.

1911's "once tuned in" if they need it, are relatively accurate if not dead nuts on, have a light easy trigger and are sexy. Mainly the opposite of a Harely but they have the sexy thing working together.

I love to look at Harely's and I can admire them most easily. Same thing with a 1911, super pretty to look at and I can really appreciate it when someone lets me shoot one. But here comes the but!

I'll take the SV650 and the Glock 19. Both are pretty plain but they do what they need to do with no complaints. Both have enough grunt for me, look good enough even when roughed up and dirty, and both are reasonably price.

Hey, I'm sure this one is going to go down hill but my true opinion is rock what you like. I love to look at the custom Harely, I've even got to ride a few and enjoyed it tremondously, same with the 1911. But I'm a much more toned down type guy, I have to figure in bang for the buck factor.

And as far as accuracy goes, the previous poster was right, their 1911 will more than likely outshoot the Glock, easily. But I'm not looking for MOA out of a pistol, I just want Minute of a Meth Head.

I like the comparison. I Googled Harley and 1911, 45ACP, etc. to try to find a good pic of the two together. Alas, I found nothing. You think that some creative hog owner would have stuck a nice 1911 next to it and posted some nice pics online.

That is the first assault rifle I ever bought. I also have an m1 garand, ar15 and I am seriously working to get an M14. All of which are vastly more accurate than an AK47. I don't find it necessary to reinvent the wheel when I join a new chat group so I reuse the same screen name so I don't have to remember different ones. Seriously if that is the best you could manage as a come back I won't worry about it then.
P.S. Don't judge a book by it's cover.

nope i do revolvers mostly only have 2 automatics glock 20 and glock 21
and uncle has probably 6 different 1991's even the .380 1911

I think a Harley is like a hammer because it's heavy and made of metal. I think a power drill is like a GSXR 1000 because it goes fast and has colorful plastic parts on it.

Different tools have different uses. If you don't like them, don't buy them. And for the love of all things good and decent, learn and embrace proper grammar.

I feel no need to pit Harleys against rice rockets, one choice against the other... they each have their unique qualities which some like and others don't. Personally, I don't buy my motorcycles according to how fast they are. Speed is only speed... no biggie. What matters to me is the riding experience; how it feels to ride, sounds, and pleases my eye is what matters to me. I honestly couldn't care less that there are faster bikes out there... the pleasure is all about the ride, not how fast it goes. I like bikes I can ride all day long, traveling all over the place, day after day in comfort. As for reliability, Harleys since at least the turn of the millenium are very reliable machines of great quality. They cost more than lesser bikes and hold their value remarkably well... much better than lesser bikes. Count me as a thrilled Harley owner/rider. I really have no interest in rice rockets, myself, they have no appeal.

As for 1911's and Glocks... I have a bunch of each of them and enjoy and trust them all. I'm quite happy to have and enjoy 1911's and Glocks without feeling the need to pit one choice against the other... just like the Harleys and the rice rockets, they each have their unique strong points and appeal to people who are interested in different qualities.

This is a pretty dumb thread... now I wonder why I'm wasting my time with it....

I like glocks they make good service pistols. However a 1911 can be made very accurate and that's why they have a following like they do. Glocks are low maintenance and don't jam unless broke. However comparing a glock to a pistol that a lot of users pick because of accuracy is going to make people mad.

To each his own. What one person shoots shouldn't really make a difference to what another person shoots. I don't really see the need to rip on something just because you don't like it.
