Combat Knives let's see 'em!

I may have a few more than I need. Seeing as I only have two hands. Until this thread came up. I’d kinda lost track.

Technically, not a “combat knife”. But, many guys on the ground in Vietnam carried them. I carried that one for 15 years on SWAT. Gave away the home dyed black sheath.

nice collection! love the Lile!!!!!

I carried a Randall 1-8 pretty standard carbon steel Bo made me after I visited him from Benning Jump school and ordered it and went to Intelligence schools for 6months I picked it up on my way to DLIWC for Vietnamese before my first deployment in 68 . It worked well , was quite the status symbol but I ended up trading it after my second deployment and the leather ringed handles was getting a little funky . I Bought a Randall Model 14 Attack in 1972 from Nordic Knives and carried it in Army reserves until 1986 and it went to Panama twice with me and my Son got it in 1994 when he became a deputy . He still has it and in 1983 I replaced the Randall 1-8 just as I had originally and I still have it in my small Randall collection .
I also collected Mad Dog knives from 1999- well this last one I commissioned in 2020 and picked up in 2021 . Most of my medium sized Mad Dog collection were fighters, I ranked them the best in the world that you could get and used most of them , gave one to a IDF operator who reported it was miraculous in the anti tunnel work he did :) . Kevin's Voodoo Hound; a 7.5"x 11/2"x special order 3/16" was my death fairy wand - very scary ! 1703660975775.png I sold quite a few MDs off and made good money with some , never lost any $ thats for sure. I kept half a dozen and my sons all have theirs. This is a one of "Ranasaurus" 10" x2" x1/4" VooDoo grind razor in rare Red and Black Composite. I picked it up in Utah in March on my birthday run in 2021 so thank goodness it didn't go to DC in Jan 6 2021 :) My last MD .
I got a lot of kewl fighting knives still , I find it hard to sell them , some are five figure valuable . I sold a couple 5 figure Mad Dogs to China owners , first time I trusted wire transfers ! Ill take more pictures .

This big 13" Dagger I commissioned from Stephan Fowler and he did his Journeyman Bladesmith ticket making it. 13" forged W6 steel flat double grind blade with asymetric Stabilized Amboyna Burl handle and damascus fittings has a nice sheath too. Scary sharp and it is too pretty to use. I have half a dozen custom Fowler blades

How about a Civil War musketoon bayonet?

Or a converted Old Hickory?

Maybe an M7 bayonet or an AK bayonet, perhaps even a Cold Steel Tanto?

This is probably my favorite "combat knife" if I had to use a knife rather than a full on sword to take someone down . It does everything right for me in my Martial Art training kata s which I had a long time with it when permitted or alone. I used to be ridiculed when I showed up at early pistol training and was told to take it off by the Col himself in 84 when I showed up with it on my Milt Sparks belt rig . It is beautiful work , I had the blade Rockwell tested and it is just over 60 on the C scale along the edge and around 55 on the spine. It has barely a hand and a half grip, but it is there and the guard is perfect for supporting any thrust , its also light and fast. I have never found out who made it, I bought it in a Prescot Arizona gun show in 1980 and it has a faint daddy long legs etched into blade with what looks like "Harrison" , maybe . The sheath is expertly sewn like a Sparks holster

Here is a crazy deadly knife and my entire Bauchop collection ! The Big knife is the Alley Cat which is about 8" long , perfectly balanced and ground and razor sharp and a knife that just inspires solid confidence in your hands. I won't talk about the other two other than to say they are very rare and the Alley Cat is probably the most common of the uncommon Bauchop knives. They were a favorite of the Rhodesian and SA govt. recce fighters during the 70s and early 80s . I can't tell you how scary this knife is but more so than my others. I have the super rare sheath for it that carries the super rare Shaman folding dagger also .

Two favorite "user" "combat knives " made by THR Forum members ! We got some talent here ! I caught these two at the height of their producing times I think. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I use them and they are GREAT !

here are three Combat "Bowies " The one on the left is a 11" Mad Dog Sitka , Center a Randall Monster 12" Smithsonian Bowie" and right an early commission of Stephan Fowler of a forged modernized "Confederate Bowie" 1703750061405.png

Combat knives aren't the type that I would normally be attracted to but these popped up a few years ago at a good price and I decided to buy a couple to put back. They are well used USMC bayonets. They no longer issued at all DSCF0540.JPG if I understand correctly. I figured these were worth $30 each and someday might be worth a bit more.

These are the main ones Ive used over the years as a back up to my handguns.

The Gerbers have become too much of a collectible anymore, at least the older ones, so they stay at home. Same goes for the old Blackjacks. The issue Brit "Commando's" are still readily available and at fairly reasonable prices, and that's what Ive been using for the most part these days.

I found a couple of SOGs in an LGS, found the Seal 2k's handle didn't fit my small hands, and sold it to my buddy for what I paid for it, and kept the SOG tech bowie that was also for sale. He loved it enough that he bought me a Cold Steel san mai tanto. I guess you could call it a combat knife. Nice knife though.
Here's the SOG before I sold it

Here's the aforementioned Cold Steel tanto, a Cold Steel SRK, which is a fantastic knife for $40 by the way, a Cold Steel SRK-C, a SOG tech bowie, and some old beat up Buck knife I've had forever. I don't know how many of those qualify as a combat knife, but I wouldn't want to tap-dance with someone holding any one of them. 20231228_193238.jpg
