I don't think this ammo shortage will be as bad as the last time.

.00025 is not the same thing as .00025%

There is a factor of 100 difference.

Good catch - I was thinking of it as a percentage 1000 / 4,000,000 but I forgot to multiply by 100.

Yes I voted this is going to be worse than the last time. Why, I don't know, it might have to do with;

A. The number of people that own firearms today has doubled in the US.
B. It takes and uses more materials to produce 9mm, 40 S&W, 45 Auto, 223/5.56 and 308 than it does to produce 22 LR.
C. The number of conflicts going on in the world has increased the number of rounds being used in the middle east, South America and Africa.
D. People are practicing with their new guns more now to get ready incase they need to use them.
E. The number of people taking CCW classes and live fire testing has increased.
F. The number of people at gun ranges shooting has triple in the last couple of years.
G. The number of semi-auto rifles and hand guns has increased the number of rounds that are now shot.
H. People are now storing more ammo for a rainy day than before.

Other than that, I can't think of a single reason why we are having a ammo shortage.

I use to go to the range, register, put down my money and go to shoot. Now, I have to reserve a lane a week in advance just to get a chance to shoot.

Can you imagine what would happen if all of a sudden there were twice the number of drivers and cars out on the same roads. The price of gasoline would be, what?, 10 or 15 dollars a gallon if you could find any at all!!!

The positive side of me (which is small) says that the ammo will be back on the shelves, but a higher price than pre-Sandy Hook.

The negative side of me believes we will not only keep high prices, but we will continue to see ration to continue on with us until . . .?

I've been in guns for about 60 years and I've never seen anything like this.

The last couple shortages don't hold a candle to this mess.

I've seen many, many people that never had any interest what so ever in guns buying their first gun.

This is what surprises me the most.

People I know who would never touch a gun, or would not be interested in them to begin with are now looking to buy their first handgun and taking CCW classes.

I'm fairly new to firearms, about 3years in, so I never noticed the earlier shortages to begin with. But if people who have been into guns for more than half a century are saying this about the shortage, then its amazing to say the least.

It's ALREADY worse. Last time, there were a couple of relatively unaffected calibers... .40, for instance. And things were available; you just had to be in the right place at the right time

This time, it's virtually EVERYTHING. And unless you can afford to stand in line outside a store, knowing when the shipments are coming in, you can forget it. Some stores throttling back and limiting purchase amounts is the only thing helping with that right now.

Hertzer bullets I believe never heard of them but received them today

It's "Herters" and IMO it's terrible; dirty, lots of duds. I bought a couple of boxes of 380 and 9 a few years back and will never buy it again at any cost.

It's not over. People were fighting over a single box of bulk (1,000) Federal 223. Apparently word has leaked that my local Academy is getting some hard to find ammo. The numbers of those showing up before they open is increasing daily. I picked up up my single box of 22lr this morning for $19.99. Not bad for 525 rounds of 22lr. They had an AR today chambered for 300 Whisper and 300 Blackout. Price was $1199.99.

Im 25 and don't remember shortages or attacks on the 2a past 08. But i do remember 08 quite well. I bought my 1st sks in January of 09 and my 1st AR a month later. I was able to get Wolfe 7.62x39 for $5-$6 a box of 20 and I bought PMC 223 for $11-$12 a box of 20. I thought it was rediculous because the 223 boxes still had previous sticker prices of $9.50 on them letting me know they jacked up prices to take advantage of the situation. ARs were higher in price but the more expensive ones were still on the shelf. Ammo today can still be had in my area but people have to look other places than Walmart and ARs, AKs and the like are nowhere in sight for 20 miles of my house.
Cut to the chase... I think the current situation is just as bad if not worse but I'm hoping the dust will settle in the next 6 months to a year without too much damage to our rights.
