Hi All, With the winter coming my club stops outdoor rifle competitions and goes to pistol caliber carbines instead. I think it has to do with concern about ricochets(spelling?) from the frozen ground or the berm. People use Barretta storms,Rugers, Kel tecs and lever actions. There are a couple of AR type rifles.

My question is this. What are some out of the ordinary carbines to use? There are Marlin Camp carbines. Tommy Gun knock offs are illegal in CT. Are there any others I could look for?

Thanks
pete

I'm going to do a rhineland arms conversion of an Enfield. Ordered an $80 one off AIM today. Getting the gun now so when I have the money for the kit I won't have to go hunting for a rifle.

I like my Uberti 1860 steel frame henry reproduction in .45 Colt for fun shooting.

I have a Marlin 44 mag lever action that is both accurate and alot of fun to shoot. Load it stout with hot 44 mag loads (it can take it) and hunt boars or deer or load it light with 44Spl cowboy loads and it has no recoil at all and you don't need hearing protection to plink or shoot small game and varmints - big fun.

I'd say look at the Marlin 1894s in 44 and 357 - they're fantastic rifles that will last you forever.
