Here's a pic of my Black Lab, Duke. Got him out of a pound about a 3 days before they were going to put him down. He's been the best dog I've ever had. He's also the biggest baby I have ever seen.
I had a black Lab and all of her family were named with "Shadow" somewhere in the name, so we named her "Miss Midnight Shadow" or "Midnight" for short.
I've never thought to give a pet a gun related name. You guys are addicts. Wait, I am too I don't have any pets yet, but there will be a dog (blue heeler) and a cat in the future. Already got the names picked out:
Dog: Pavlov
Cat: Schrodinger
As far as gun related names for your dog, Mak seems to fit nicely for some reason. Maybe because it's small and black?
Mine's Howie too, but short for howitzer.. if you've ever seen an overzealous Belgian Malinois go after someone in a bite suit, you know where the name comes from
When we had registered dogs they had names a mile long that didn't necessarily have anything to do with their "real" names. Ie "Williams' Friend Samrod" = "Sam. Vona's Colorado Lady" = Freckles, "Bob's bear Essential" = Bear.
In the same way: "Esheato's Ladysmith Black Revolver" = "Lady"
I was going to say Mauser.... and come to think of it. Since a Mauser was my first firearm (M2 in .45ACP) I'll be naming my first dog (always been a cat person) Mauser
BTW Baer's a cute pup. May he live long and jolly.
Mine's named "luger" which fits for a big ol GERMAN shepard. for a lab, how bout barret (sp), what better name than one of a man who has some huge steel cajones politicaly, and makes awesome, massive rifles?
