The gun you want but never buy even when you can

C96 Broomhandle Mauser, preferably with shoulder holster/stock attachment.

And before you ask, I honestly have no idea why I've lusted for one. Just because, I guess:confused:

Aarond, funny thing about the Single-Six... I passed on a couple of chances over the years, and then the supply dried up. Finally, my preferred LGS had two. One was a three-screw and they wanted $500. The other was a "New Model", which I got for a little under $400 (that's what they got for in good and clean condition around here.)

Just a week or so later, I went back in there (this would be a week or so ago now), and they had two 3-screws (including the one from before) and two "New Models." They still run around those prices, though.

Want a Colt Series 70 MK IV Government in 9mm. Last one I handled the guys buddy had a Colt Government Series 70 MK IV Government .45 ACP New in Box, the gun was absolutely mint. I bought the latter which I already have several of just not new in the box, a few have boxes. Both guns were well and fair priced. So still looking for a super clean 9mm. :) The other gun would be a Browning High Power. I have seen a few I liked and even sold several years ago when I had the gun shop but to this day have yet to own one in my collection.

Full-size 1911. Been in the fence for years. Always walk away with something else, generally smaller or polymer. One day...

Ruger Alaskan in 44mag.

I have had a couple in my hand but never seem to go for it. Some day relatively soon I will. However I'm currently on a "Build a 1911" kick so it may take more time than it usually would.

Hello MedWheeler,,,

Just a week or so later, I went back in there (this would be a week or so ago now), and they had two 3-screws (including the one from before) and two "New Models." They still run around those prices, though.

That's probably what will happen when I order a new one. ;)

A friend of mine talked non-stop about buying a Tavor for probably 2 years and I finally told him to do it or get off the pot. He recently asked me to look around for a decent price and to quiet him down I agreed to look. After thinking about it for a day, he pulled the trigger and ordered one from a seller on GB. Before the order shipped, I jokingly said he should order a backup never thinking it would go anywhere. I'll be damned, he called me back a few minutes later and said there were now 2 Tavors on order. Go figure.

Desert Eagle 357 w/muzzle brake.

I have the 44 (no brake) but just can't bring myself to spend the $$$ on a 357 or a conversion kit...will be waiting until I can't handle the recoil of the 44 anymore and the wife gets tired of my whining.

The H&K P30 was that gun for me for a long time. Finally bought one last year and can't figure out why it took me so long.

For me, it's two CZs - the CZ75 & Scorpion EVO 3.

As nice as the CZ75 and it's many derivatives are, I just don't need to invest in another full-size 9mm pistol.

In the case of the Scorpion EVO 3, I wouldn't enjoy it unless SBR'd, and the hassle, time, & cost of doing so isn't worth it to me.

Glock 17. I've shot over 1k rounds through one and have had 9mm Glocks or over a decade, but I've never owned a full size 9mm Glock (G17 or a G34). Had a G20...and a G21SF...sold both. Then when I got a full size poly frame 9mm pistol it was a VP9...so I still need to round out the double stack 9mm Glock selection with a full size...

Fn hi power. I've been meaning to get one for years. I've back burnered it again and again. I've bought a number of guns since I first started wanting one. I really only want it just to have one.

Gun Buying Mania

Sounds like your friend may have gone a little "Gunzilla"....., but haven't most of us done the same, at one time or the other?

I'd like to be around (or maybe NOT around) when you suggest that he shoot them both, at the same time !:D

Desert Eagle, any caliber. I guess I need a reason, however vague, to purchase a gun and I simply have no viable reason to own one.

I'd really like an M1A SOCOM 16 with an OD stock, but just cannot justify $1600.
That's the rifle for me as well. And I don't own one for the same reason as you. I think it's the coolest rifle though and will probably get one some day

Two pistols qualify for my list.

I am attracted to the SIG P210-1/2/3 models or the real-deal Swiss Army P49. 1911s in the same price range don't phase me, but I have difficulty convincing myself to pay that much for a 9mm gun.

I ran across a factory matte chrome Browning BDM years ago. I bought a SIG P228 that day instead of the BDM. When I went back later to buy the BDM, it was gone. I have never seen another BDM like that one.

I'm confused. What does the caliber have to do with the price? The P210 is one of the finest guns ever made.

The BDM is junk, actually, so you bought the right gun.

FN 5.7. I've always thought it was a neat platform and neat round. Now that I think about it, I doubt I'll ever get one, due to reloading issues, but I'll always think it's kinda cool

I have thought about this long and hard. For some strange reason I have always wanted a
Sharps 1874 Long Range Rifle , 30 inch barrel in 45 - 110.
I would have absolutely no use for one...maybe in a previous life I was a bison hunter, but they are long gone and a bit much for whitetail deer and hogs.
Although sniping hogs at long range would be a hoot ! If I could find a place to hunt them....I just might have to look into this.

Agreed, but experience is the best teacher. We all have had to learn the hard way, at some time or the other. He has his right to his choices. You gave good advise though.

Glad you liked the P210 and balked at the BDM.

I own a bunch of P210's. I'm lucky enough to own basically all the high end pistols and its one of my favorites.

The BDM is interesting, but poorly constructed and inaccurate.

Just wondering if anyone has a gun they have always wanted but every time you get the chance for whatever reason you end up walking away with something else? For me it's the glock model 30. I have wanted one ever since I put my hands on one in the 90s. I've had a chance to get one several times over but every time there just seemed to be a really good reason to get something else. Last year I decided it was time to just go get one. I went to the dealer with the exact right amount for it. Then we started talking and I started looking at stuff on hand. Yep, you guessed it, I bought something else instead of the G30. A gently used like new fnp45 with a lot extras for 400$ was just too good to pass up. It's a great gun and no regrets getting it. I'd gladly carry it for work if I could. Then almost a year later I get a call about a glock G30s I had asked them about. They had one in stock and I new it wouldn't last long. It was not a blue label price like I wanted but 559 seemed a fair enough retail price. When I got to the shop they were already putting away the shelf stock for the night. When I held I held the gun it just felt right. Can't wait to see how it compares to the colt and sig. In a couple more weeks I'll find out.
I can honestly answer "No". EVERY gun I've wanted is in my possession. That explains why I'm not looking to purchase any more at this time. The last one I wanted was a CZ 75SA, and when Bud's got them, I bought one.

BTW, my first Glock was a 30. Still one of my favorites.
