Do you have a "Fun" gun? A gun that you maybe don't shoot all the time, might not make it in the vehicle everytime you go to the range, or the one you grab when you see that varmint or paper/steel bullseye, but whenever you fire it, it puts a smile on your face.

Center-fire or rimfire? Or......is there one of each?

Definitely my Remington 597 Magnum. Always hits where I aim and isn’t “just a 22”.

I kitted it up nicely with some Volquartsen parts and a Leupold 2-7x33.

I don’t always bring it along but it is my “ranch rifle” and usually have it while tromping the property.

This CZ455 Scout. It now sits in a Rustic Trainer stock, wears a swap meet Leupold VX3 1.5-5x20 scope in Warne QD rings so I can quickly swap to the sights, and has a sweet DIY trigger spring job including YoDave shims. It rings the siluetas offhand all day long with CCI SV. So fun, this less expensive 22LR compact rifle always puts a smile on my face.

It's probably not what you meant by "fun" gun, but my most "fun" gun is my Model 55 Winchester .22 (S, L, or LR) single-shot automatic. My Mom and Dad gave it to me for my 10th birthday - 65+ years ago. ;)
It still looks and works great, it's as accurate as it ever was (it's no tack-driver, but it's accurate enough for tin cans, jack rabbits and ground squirrels if they're close enough) and it still puts a great big smile on my face whenever I take it out and shoot it - just like it did the first time. :D
Actually though, there is one thing better about shooting my Model 55 nowadays than what shooting it was like for me 65 years ago. The ejected shell cases drop out of the bottom of the stock - right where I placed my left hand when I was 10. And those just-fired .22 shell cases are hot! :eek: I had an almost permanent blister in the palm of my left hand until I grew taller and got longer arms to match. :thumbup:

Hands-down, all-time faves are my leverguns. In any caliber.

Whenever I bring ‘em with friends, they ALL try ‘em. And smile every time they cycle the action. I swear, every time I go, I tell myself THIS’LL be the day I start making ‘em pay for my ammo! (And then we all go laughing it off.)

p.s. My cop friends are the WORST offenders… just sayin’.

Hmm… no quote.

@kidneyboy said his h001…

Mine was too until it wasn’t anymore. Shooting yourself in the foot with it kinda does that. Purely my fault, but the design kinda lends itself to NDs in anything other than a range situation. No safety, small hammer spur, just not a good combination when you’re focusing on where the stupid squirrel went and maneuvering around trying to get a shot. Thumb slipped off of the hammer and it suddenly became a bad day. I was lucky though, the bullet went between my big toe and the toe next to it. Only lost a sock, a boot, a buttstock, and a whole lot of pride. Powder burns were pretty rough even through the boot, which I was somewhat surprised about. Don’t be me. All my guns now have safeties with exception only for revolvers.

Well, kind of depends. If I want to show off, it's my scoped Savage Mark 2. Cheap scope on the cheap model, with the cheap super-stiff Wal-Mart model trigger. I'm just used to it.
I have two boxes of cheap rounds it loves set aside. 50 yards, I put crosshairs where I want a hole to appear, and then it does. It's so accurate it actually gets boring after a while.

If I want to actually pay attention and get a giggle, it's my Mosin Nagant. Grabs attention, I don't have to concern myself with being gentle, and surprises all the young'ns on what 'grampa guns' previous generations had to fight with.

I have a fondness for heavy recoil large caliber handguns. Everything from .44 magnum up to .500 S&W. I don't use them as carry guns(although I have carried one of my Desert Eagles a time or two, open and concealed) and when I did hunt, I never used a handgun, so really they are my fun guns. I have always been a recoil junkie. I am currently debating on rather or not to track down a BFR and have it converted to .500 Bushwhacker.
