Of the options, I'd probably go 6.5 Creedmoor. Too bad they don't offer the 6.5 PRC. They do show a 300 PRC.

The MRAD is a great rifle. Got some trigger time on one a while back. It was a 338 Lapua.

It might not have the pedigree of an Accuracy International but it sure felt just as quality as my AI.

OP, if you qualify for the mil/first responder discount at EuroOptic i think you can get that MRAD a good bit cheaper. Spend the savings on better glass.

Maybe I missed it, but the purpose of the thread was to get opinions on 308, 6.5 CM or 300 WM. He’s bought a rifle that is offered in any of these cartridges, but I can’t find which one.

Yes. My apologies. I should have stated that after careful consideration I changed my mind. I was talking with an active Army Ranger and he highly recommended this.

Our local range always seems to have a large group of ex-military in attendance. Seals, Rangers, Green Berets, etc. Strangely enough I’ve never seen any that didn’t have some kind of special ops training. All love to talk and have strong opinions about the best equipment. Thing is very few could shoot well. During my last visit I watched two ex- special ops graduates shoot their AR’s at a target 25 yards away. For the most part they managed to hit the paper, but as I recall it was a 16” target. I listen and smile and my BS meter is on high.

Visiting the same range I’ve gotten to know a State Trooper. During a “cold range” we began a conversation about the 6.5 Norma. After seeing him at the range 3 or 4 times, I learned he served in the Army but little else. He really can shoot, and will offer advice only if you ask. Nice guy and a true gentleman.

Not the only options:

A Tenacity barreled action, a BA Comp stock, and your shooting with the big boys.

MPA competition ready rifle, and your shooting with the big boys.

Save a couple grand this way, buy a scope with it.

You know Varminterror has a really good point. Are you choosing this rifle because you REALLY want a MRAD? Nothing wrong with that, it's a cool rifle. Or do you just want a really nice rifle that shoots amazing and that's the one you saw?

Because, if you are open to a different rifle, having a competition style rifle built will be cheaper and just as, if not more, accurate.

Something like a rifle from MPA will cost you half the price and be an amazing rifle. It seems like I recommend MPA a lot but it's mostly because they are the competition rifle maker that I remember the name of the easiest. There are several great ones out there. GA Precision is another one.

Recommendations? You always have good one's.

Given a $6k budget, I’d personally buy or build a bespoke rifle built by a custom smith, or drop in custom parts I can assemble myself. But are you wanting a turnkey/factory option?

Were it my money:

Action: Defiance Ruckus or Impact 737R
Barrel: Bartlein or Proof Research
Trigger: TriggerTech Diamond or Jewel HVR
Stock: Manners TCS or Foundation Genesis2, or if you’re into chassis’, then MPA Matrix or MDT ACC
Brake: Area419 Hellfire for Creed, Sidewinder for Magnums (and I’d get the creed) or APA Fat Bastard

All of this bolts together in a bit over an hour, and should run something around $3500-4000.

Or you can get very close to this performance with turnkey/standard offerings from GA Precision Pinnacle Production Rifle or MPA PMR, or Badrock Southfork. These actions, triggers, and stocks/chassis’ are a step down from the peak of the mountain mentioned above, but really don’t give up anything for performance. The GA and Badrock rifles are Defiance Tenacities instead of Ruckuses, and use a standard Manners stock (T2A instead of TCS) and TriggerTech Specials. The MPA PMR is a BA chassis instead of their Matrix, also with a TT Special in a Curtis Axiom action… and these come in at $2000-2500.

$6k could build a top level ELR rifle in the big Cheytac/Rogue cartridges, spanking any capability a Barrett MRAD ever dreamed of reaching.

Another option would eb to get a full custom rifle built the way you want it. I recently did this. I had been wanting to do kind of a my take on the M24/M40 sniper rifles for a long time. I ended up going with a company called Alamo Precision Rifles and bought their Ranger package. Everything was bult to my specifications and it cost under 3k. Top rifle in the picture.

Another thing to consider is that buying one of these 2500-3000 dollar rifles leaves you a lot of money for great glass. A 2700 dollar rifle from MPA or GA Precision is going to shoot amazing and still leave you money to buy a top of the line optic like a Nightforce ATACR, Kahles, or S&B and still cost the same or less than the MRAD did by itself.
