I own two r51’s. I like them a lot. Newest edition smoke grey frame. I shoot my guns fine and i find 147 ‘s seem to work well. I carry federal 147 hst’s in my smoke gun. I see some think its ugly . I think its ppk-esk myself. I like the pistol and it is well built and better machined than more expensive plastic guns on the market. If I were you look at the smoke grey framed one before you buy the black one. I own a lot of guns this gun is well built. My guns function fine.

What I see is when a question like you asked is that most who comment in the negative on this pistol dont own one. It seems the owners of this pistol on here have commented in the positive. Some complain they dont like the looks and comment in the negative. Looks are relevant to each person, thats why they make different cars, trucks, ice cream flavors. I happen to like the looks of the pistol and gun is fine shooting.

Dang, I didn't know they had a smoke grey version! I'm gonna be wantin' one, I just KNOW it! I just know it! Curse you Cocojo!:cuss: ;)

I bought my smoke framed R51 from buds. I was watching for them and when I saw they just got them in and jumped on it. By the end of the day they were sold out from them. So much for no one wants the R51’s.

I got a new one at Dicks Sporting Goods the other for $ 299 . So far I he it , jams , stovepipe . Mine is made in North Carolina could it be a generation 1 ? Does anyone know the seal numbers that were recalled ?

I do have the Rp9 tha has a bad reputation but I like mine .

$300 is really a low price and well worth the 'gamble' in my opinion. I already have my carry guns so it would purely be a range toy and a conversation firearm. If it turns out to be a reliable shooter, all the better!

I've had one for a year. Carry it every day, shoot it every week. Have 6 magazines for it, got two with the gun and the other 4 from Buds. I love it, shoots great and I can't remember it ever failing to fire. The first gen was likely horrible, but the 2nd gen (as far as I have seen) is great.

Don't currently own one but if I was looking for that type of pistol, I would certainly consider one. Just seen in a flyer the R51 for $274.95 and if you buy it from Nov 19-27 there is a $100 rebate for a net cost of $174.95. I have been training LE for 30 years and all autoloaders have stoppages and you need to train to handle them. I trust what I observe and am more skeptical with what I read online and with all of the attention, the revised R51 should be no more problematic that other semis. I think Abe Lincoln said don't believe everything you read on the internet.

No way, it's looks alone totally repel me, and the issues with both generations would keep me away. For $300, I can buy any of several much better guns, that are dependable and have enough left for a few boxes of 9mm to shoot with. I have one of these, a great gun, regardless of the price and for what they are going for, an insane bargain:

I put my money where my mouth was, so to speak. Purchased an R51 yesterday at LGS for $337. Yes, more than online sales, but no extra fees and I got to walk out with it right away. The $100 rebate from Remington on this gun made it too good to pass up. Under $250 invested in a US built, all metal, delayed-lock 9mm, yes please! I've been intrigued by this pistol since announced a few years back and am hoping that Remington have this version working. Will find out this afternoon!

My gun looks and feels great. Only odd thing is there isn't an audible or tactile trigger reset.

I don't have an issue with trigger reset because the trigger pull length is so short. It's a single action hammer fired gun so it's more like shooting a 1911 than a striker handgun.

It sounds like a taurus pt111 g2 mill pro is going to be a superior deal for much less, no rebate required.

Just took the new R51 shooting. Used factory Remington UMC 115gr FMJ. Shot 100 and had 8 failure-to-feed issues. 7 were overcome by pushing the slide forward. 1 required the magazine to be removed to free up the jammed round. Not exactly what I was hoping for....

I will say that when the rounds fed, the gun shot nicely with a mild recoil and was accurate on Coke bottles at 15 yards. The last 4 mags worth (28 rounds) did not have a glitch so that is somewhat promising??

I think I'll try a hotter round next time, maybe a milspec 124 gr.

Come on little Remington, don't let me down!!

Another couple of boxes through it and the slide will smooth out. Also, it took a little while for the magazine springs to loosen up - it was very difficult to rack the slide with a full mag at first. After 200 rounds everything worked fine.

Shot another 50 rounds today, NATO variety. Same issue with the failure-to-feed problem, but now I know why. The rounds are nosing down in the magazine when I load the mags. If I am very careful with each round loaded and verify position, everything works fine. If I just load up the mag like is typical, rounds start to nose down little by little as each round is loaded. The magazine, when properly loaded, has a fairly extreme angle up on the rounds and then they all feed perfectly. The follower seems to be easily upset and not hold the rounds nose-up enough. Same issue with both mags.

Calling Remington this afternoon.

I bought a Ruger LC9s Pro for $299 + transfer fee (no tax, no shipping) last fall on a non-Black Friday sale. I don't see any reason why I'd go for an R51 over an LC9s. I would like to try out an R51 at the range sometime, now that they have worked out the kinks (???)

Let me know what Remington says. The mag issue has been reported by a number of owners. Some types of hollow points will hang on the feed ramp in mine because of this. If there are newer mags available, then I'll call and get a couple of them.
