kinna my point you need no wrench with a glock
and a stock glock might not be as accurate as a $2000 plus 1911 but i can consistently hit a coke can at 50+ yards
Riiiiigggghhht.

Are you here just to argue or to discuss the benefits of both guns?

You don't need a wrench to take down a 1911 that will run with a Glock in the accuracy department.

When I look at jgo, I dont see JGO anymore... its starting to look like "ego" to me. I think that suits you more appropriately. Lets put that coke can to the test buddy. Make a clip and post it.

Reliable? I shoot IDPA twice a month at two different ranges (30-50 competitors) and I see pistols of all types malfunction (Glocks too).

It is my opinion that anyone who says one model is exceptionally more reliable than another is either unexperienced or a fanboy who ignores reality.

The very best thing about this thread was DHart's photo of his Ed Brown Bobtail Commander.

As far as the rest of the thread goes, however -- aren't we all tired of the 1911-baiting and 1911 vs. Glock threads? Please?

And what's a statement such as this doing in this thread?
hanguns are frowned upon by our military as a whole, and are not issued to every soldier. Usually officers, and pilots wear pistols. I know that on fort Gordon here in Ga., the M.P.'s are ordered to carry five rounds in their pistols, and they are not allowed to keep them chambered. That's how the U.S government views pistols as war tools.
Uh, no, lots of folks other than zeros and aviators get pistols, and yes, 15 in the mag and then chamber a round with safety/decocker down.

I still like Harleys too, not that it matters. Can we all just get a life, and quit doing threads about 1911s or Glocks that are designed to just generate opinions and misinformation?

Well guys just remember like Harley-Davidson the same applies to 1911's

Chrome dont get you home. Keep em tuned up and and they will last a life time! Ive not seen a 75 year old glock yet any one else?

Amen to that!

nope i do revolvers mostly only have 2 automatics glock 20 and glock 21
and uncle has probably 6 different 1991's even the .380 1911/QUOTE]

There is no such thing as a .380 1911. At least not a factory chambered one. Many people have modded a 1911 into other calibers, but I doubt .380 was one of them.

Actually The 38 Super, 9X19 and 10 mm are not 1911s. Colt's and others just made use of the platform to create another handgun.

My $1200 1911 (yeah I know I know, I was robbed) is only as accurate as I am and as far as coke cans at 50 yards... I prefer my Marlin 39A. :D

I hear ya! I don't see the practicality of shooting a handgun past 25yrds. I would rather have an AR15 or a 30-30 lever action for distances between 25 - 100 yrds. I doubt I will ever have to shoot anybody at that range unless Mexico invades(militarily).

Here's Ego's coke can 50yrd killa:

:what::what::what:

MY EYES... :neener:

'Tuner: Declare your gun.
It's going to be difficult to set up a "run them until they fail" test, plus how are we going to provide all the ammo for it? After all <poke> since you're expecting to run all day </poke> we could be there for a while. I say we limit the course of fire.

And 'Tuner is still waiting for a taker, last I saw. Nobody willing to take the challenge?

I didn't read the thread replies but comparing a 1911 design to a Hardly-Davidson is a insult to Mr. Browning and his 1911

Does anyone remember when Harley Davidson had more engineers on their payroll than lawyers?

Come to think of it, Colt tried the ol' Sue-Your-Competition-Into-Submission-Instead-Of-Building-Something-New-Yourself trick also. They did it to Bushmaster.

'Tuner: Declare your gun.

I'll let him pick from one of about a dozen. :)

Helpful hint:

Don't make the mistake of judgin' the snake by the purtiness of its skin.

It's going to be difficult to set up a "run them until they fail" test,

Nah. I shut a Glock down about 2 years ago in less than an hour, after he was dumb enough to play follow the leader. Most stop short of the hard stuff. Me? I don't care if I break my pistol. I can fix it. ;)

The 1911 design has the shortest, most controllable trigger pull of any handgun.
This is both wrong and misleading. Wrong because any UIT pistol will beat the trigger pull of an M1911 hands down in the semiauto category. Misleading because the single stage trigger design in a semiauto needs must engage the sear an order of magnitude longer than the second stage in a two-stage design.

I offered to shoot clean guns for accuracy and reliability, SIG P210 against M1911. 1911Tuner declined.

I didn't decline anything, Michael. I said that you couldn't have it all your way. If you ain't willin' to get your hands dirty, then it's probably best to keep'em clean. Offer still stands, by the way. Come wrestle with this ol' dog.

That is the part I care about.

See? Ya want it all your way. I was like that once...but I outgrew it pretty soon after I started school. ;)

Michael,
If your pet were so sought after it would not be defunct, and would be the choice of all major competitors. Winning competitors have No Allegence to platforms. They simply wish to win. They use the platform they use becuause it works, and the last time I looked, I didn't see the 210 in any major competition.

I ride a vintage BMW and shoot vintage S&W revolvers, does that mean them thar new fangled plastic Glocks and Triumphs suck? :)
